I'm thinking of changing my car from a four-door to a two-door.

The pigs travel in two "travelling boxes". They would fit across the back seat but I wondered if anyone had any experience of actually putting travelling hutches into the back of a two-door car? Is it rather difficult?

I really fancy this car but there is no point if the guys will have problems in the back.

Ha ha Lucinda - you sound like my hubby. He wants a new car & says the one he's seen would be ideal for piggies!

Sorry i've no advice on the 2 door but I have a tiny (4 door) Aygo & they fit fine in there :)

when we had a 3 door fiesta we had trouble getting the kids in the back let alone pig cages. It was difficult to get them through the gap between the seat tipped forward and the door frame.

That's what I'm thinking....sadly I don't think I will be able to have this beautiful (and very good value) car.

I have a 3 door yaris and ive had the piggies in the back in their indoor cage so maybe its possible

Could you test drive the car and see how hard it is?

I sat in one today (at the garage, not the private sale that I have been thinking about). There was room for the pigs' travelling hutches on the seat, but I am not sure about the actual "getting-in" bit....and it would be harder to get them out in an emergency too. I think I will have to shelve my sporty fantasties until I can afford two cars. As if that would ever happen!

we have always had 4 door cars, but could only afford a 2 door one a few years ago when we needed a new one. never again! it is so hard getting people, cages and anything else in and out of the back! I would never get a 2 door car ever again! It is good to park though!

I just don't know!

Because this is a sporty car, there is very very little room in the back.....

How about you take one of your cages to the garage and try it out?
A man would do this if he was measuring up whether his golf clubs would fit in the boot, so why not give it a go?

You might be the first prospective buyer to ever do this and maybe the last, but hey it is nice to be different! :)):))

Which car is it?

I have a tiny 3 door 107 and I manage kids, cats and pigs in mine! Going in via the boot is always an option if space is tight - up and over works wonders.

It's a Hyundai Coupe.....if I go to look at the one for sale I think I would have to take the travelling hutches with me!

I have a 3 door and getting in a nero 4 is a nightmare, seats down, push through boot job but it is do able.

I try where possible to travel in carriers that can be stowed in front passenger seat

Just remember the closer to the rear wheels, the more every bump in the road will be felt. Even moreso when there's no springy seat to cushion the blows!
