My 2 female piggies, Poppy and Daisy (20 months old) keep trying to tip over their food dish....

Normally when it is half empty around 5/6pm before i refill it.

They try to get their noses right under it and sniff then tip it over. All that is under the bowl is fresh sawdust.

Any idea why they both keep doing this?

Oh wow is that why they do it? Like they start wheeking around 4pm when I usually bring them their veg.

Is it the same for the food dish?

As I type this Poppy literally just tipped it all the way over mallethead

Mine tip theirs over as soon as I fill them rolleyes. Archie just stands on the edge of it and over it goes. Need to get a ceramic one really so it's heavier and he can't tip it :)). Luckily mine are bedded on fleece so it doesn't get dirtied and they just eat it off the floor :))

Aww. Mine dont just tip it over cos they are too heavy though, they literally put their nose underneath it and flip it!

yeah try a heavy one like ceramic.
For two of mine I have this dish and it is IMPOSSIBLE to tip because of the lip around the outer edge.

These are the ones I have. No chance of tipping as they have their piggy trotters on the rim filling their little fat faces! :)) :)) :))

Mine normally find it very hard to tip the bowl as Lola is normally sat in the middle filling her face whilst Rebel and Angel eat round her! :))

I got a hayrack with a dish attached to the bottom so my piggy couldnt tip and poop in hers anymore! it has worked well, she is no longer nearly as wasteful :p

My late piggy, Pots, was a very chunky boar. He used to always stand on the edge of his bowl when it was filled while reaching for a piece of food - the bowl would flip up and cover him in it though! he's step off it looking a bit confused, eat a bit off the floor, then go back and stand on the edge of the bowl again, repeating the process! :(|)

i found him a lovely blue Mason Cash bowl in a charity shop with a lovely design printed in the bottom of it of a guinea and a rabbit for 99p!
it was a bit heavier than the bowl he had, so he could pile his chunky self on the edge of it as much as he liked and it wouldn't flip up

Machu will tip over any deep bowl so he doesn't have to work very hard to reach the food... His veg now goes in a bowl with a broader base that he can't tip, and I put his pellets in an old jar lid that's so shallow there's nothing to really tip, but he still does it with the ceramic plant pot we use as a playpen hay feeder every time! He also loves to headbutt and throw things around, so he'll do that with any light plastic bowls if they're empty! Obnoxious critters...

Misty used to throw her discarded food out of the bowl when we bought a heavier ceramic bowl that she couldn't tip :))

I'm going to have to invest in the ceramic bowls - we have one for the nuggets but they keep tipping over the other veg bowl! x
