ive gradually changed my piggies from petshop food to burgess supa guinea excel .. ive done it over a week but the guineas still search fr the petshop food.. ive gradually lessened the petshop food and day by day added more of the burgess brand.. but they still wont eat it..

am i doing something wrong?

Oh no! I'm just about to do the exact same change from pet shop mix to supa excel! I dpnt think its anything you've done wrong, but guineas have very sensetive digestive systems so maybe you could still give them a little bit of mix until youre sure theyre eating the excel. Wish me luck, hopefully mine will eat it straight away(doubt it :)) Good luck!

Be very careful when changing. I changed from Gerty Guineapig to Supa Guinea excel about a month ago now as a gradual process but they never took to the pellets. Apparently, supa guinea excel isnt too tasty. ::)

oh no.....these keeps getting worse. I'll try it but my guinea pigs only eat about 3 parts of the mix now so I have to change asap

Sounds like you've introduced it in the right way. Why don't you try another form of food? I can recommend P@H nuggets. I changed mine from gertie to that and they tuck in.

Why are you changing from the pets shop stuff just out of interest...?

i tried mine with supa guinea excel but mine wouldn't eat it, they liked the p@h nuggets though so maybe give them a try

Honestly, don't give up. Pigs aren't stupid, they know if they stand around looking disppointed for long enough they'll get more food/different food/whatever. I felt really mean when I changed to Supa Guinea Excel, but it was worth it because I know that I am offering them a very good quality feed that will keep them healthy so I can enjoy them longer.

To be quite honest, that was the best advice I've had so far on this. Thanks! :)

I've switched and they havent touched the stuff. Following Piggytoefluffs advice I've been persistent and fingers crossed theyll try it soon.

Supreme have just sent me a box of samples of their new guinea science select.
If anyone would like a sample I'll happily send you one. just PM me your address

My pigs seem to like it and they transfered over with out any problems (touch wood!)

Its really hard. I've tried gradually intrudcing it, but they wouldnt touch it. So now I've just gone cold turkey on thm, but I keep on getting scared that I'm starving them and giving them a bit of their old food. Please help!

I've changed mine to the Supa Guinea Excel too. They are eating it now but it has taken about three months! :( I started my Murran on it & he absolutely refused to eat it! Since Gilbert has been in with him I have noticed it is getting eaten but I still add alittle Gerty. It's working though, as all the Gerty is being eaten now so the selective feeding has stopped.
