It's not really a problem, but we've had our pigs; sharky and george, since Oct and they still dont like us picking htem up. The only chance we really get to pick them up is when we have food or if I really slowly approach George. We let them run all around the downstairs of the house, after guinea proofing everything so I was thinking it might be because they are too 'wild' so to speak. Just wondering if anyone had any tips. They don;t tend to responde to any stroking, but I keep stroking them both while in the cage to condition them into liking it. George seems to be getting it but not Sharky. I think it may also have something to do with the fact they have both made suicide jumps from my girlfriends lap. i.e. jumped and turned in mid air onto the floor and ran into the kitchen. They are both fine, but now they no they can live after the jump, they keep trying to crawl off our knees. Any tips of how to make them a little more placid, or is it just tehir personalities coz I wouldn't want to change that.

Just be persistent i think :)
Have a ganders in the behavior section, theres lots of threads sorta like this in there ;)

could be their personalities, mine are a bit like that. They have the run of the dining room and can be difficult to catch but they'll come for food. I just keep stroking them and eventually they climb on my lap,( I'm sitting on the floor).Keep on making a fuss of them and they get used to it, then seem to like it. :smitten:

I have one who has always hated being picked up (though she normally calms down a bit once she gets a cuddle but then starts looking for an escape route). I don't think she will ever change - she is basically a hyperactive piggie who just wants to run around all day. Mine are both nearly 1 year old. My other piggie just lies still waiting to be picked and would cuddle all day long.
