Pigs Wont Switch To Pellets

hey guys. I've been trying to swap luna from wagg guinea pig crunch to several different types of pellets. I've tried a gradual swap and cold turkey but she just wont touch the pellets at all. I've tried so many times but end up giving up after realising that she would rather starve than eat the pellets. So i guess what i'm asking is if you think it's ok for me just to leave her on the wagg? or is there any type of muesli that is a decent quality so there's a better chance shes getting everything she needs? ty.

Have you tried offering it in small amounts as a 'treat', that's how I started Frank off, but it still seems maybe that wouldn't work.
As for the muesli, I'm not sure, sorry!

oh, that's actually worth a try! hopefully she'll fall for it. what pellets do you use? ive tried the harrington ones, Burgess excel tasty nuggets and ASDA's own brand ones i think it was.
pfft! I know, shes a right fussy little diva for someone who eats her own poo! :mal:

I use the burgess ones, I have a bit of a mix because I had the blackcurrant ones first and Frank loved them as a treat - then I got rid of the muesli and he didn't touch it much at first but eventually got used to it (didn't have much of a choice ;)). They have the mint ones now and sometimes get the odd blackcurrant one because I mixed them.
If I want them to eat something I try and act over excited, mine seem to pick up on it and they're straight in there for whatever I have - great for the tablets I need them to eat ;)
 
Be sterner. =)

Put the pellets in, only give hay. If they want something different they will eventually eat the pellets. I'd say give them the blackcurrent and oregano burgess pellets as they seem to be the tastiest ones according to my old piggies.
 
aw, the ones i have just now say "with mint" in the corner, ill try a new burgess one then. ill try get the blackcurrant one cause shes got a right sweet tooth so it sounds like my best bet.
Oh, i know, i'm so weak. I eventually feel so sorry for her everytime i see her nuzzling her little nose amoungst the pellets looking for a wee bit of meusli when there is none that i give her some thinking its better than her eating nothing.
she's a wee swine! she's probably watching me out the corner of her eye while she wanders away from her bowl acting all forlorn just waiting for the second I break. haha.
 
I would like to find a museli with out the oats, mine have a mix of wagg and selective nuggets - but I always find all the oats left in the bowl - which seems to be what the manufactures use to bulk up the museli - I feel as if I'm throwing my money away - anyone any suggestions ---PS I am talking 6 piggies in 3 groups and each leave the oats?
 
yeah, it's the oats luna wont touch either. I use the wagg because i heard its the lowest calcium muesli and because ive had a piggy with recurrent bladder stones it's made me extra paranoid. Really don't know if you can get a muesli without the oats, how come you havn't just switched your pigs completely over to pellets anyway?
 
I switched my pigs onto vitakraft emotion pellets by adding a few to their old pellets. I did it gradually and at first they would not take to the emotion but I refused to give into them and now they eat them.

I did try - but sad piggy faces made me buy another bag of wagg, they like them both and eat them both so -as variety is the spice of life - who am I to deny them what they want - YES I know - piggy slave LOL

Yay! took ages for the pellets to get delivered because of christmas, but they both love the burgess oregano and blackcurrant pellets! SUCCESS! thank god, cause Lunas lost 350g since thing whole pellet escapade started!
