Hello!
I have two female guinea pigs that are just over 3 years old. In the past 3 years, I've not had many problems with either of them thankfully. Since yesterday, I noticed some of the wee patches in their cage were sort of a pale pink/pale orange colour, sort of peachy (in one patch it was very dark orange, almost brown). Some were the normal yellowish/white colour and some were the normal colour underneath then on top, the peachy colour. I separated them and found out which one it is. She doesn't seem to be in any pain while urinating nor in general. Both are still eating and drinking and everything else like normal, no signs of illness or pain or odd behaviour. I am just unsure if it is blood or stained (they have had carrot, red pepper and chard in the last few days) and whether it requires a trip to the vet or not. I have been a bit hasty in the past and gone to the vet and there's actually been nothing wrong - just me worrying! I don't want to leave it too long if it could be serious though.
They are currently a little over weight so by my vets instructions, I have cut out pellets almost completely, they just get a few each a day and they have lots of hay and their veg obviously. Could a diet change be the cause of it? Both of their poops have also in the last few days gone very dark, almost black.
Am I just over worrying about it all? :|
Also, the one who's wee is a bit off colour has a little bit of a runny nose but she keeps getting poop stuck up there somehow - could this just be from me wiping her nose? Should I be getting the poop out or should she be able to clean it herself? Before this last week or so, I've never seen poop in their nostrils?! (they are well cleaned. My mum said it could all be because they're getting older?)
Sorry this got long but any advice or peace of mind would be great, thanks :)

My first thought is whether they are drinking enough as it looks like they may have quite strong wee. The orange colour would most likely be the oxidisation of the wee (I may have got that word wrong). The change in diet could also have affected the poos. Thinking about it my pigs' poos are fairly dark and they have minimal pellets too. The red pepper could also have affected their wee.

If you are worried though it would be a good idea to get them checked out, as if there is a slight pink tinge to the wee it could be the start of a UTI (or the pepper) and the runny nose needs checking too.

The poo up her nose you could gently wipe off with a baby wipe. Is she ducking down to eat her poos?
