Sadly, Pippin hates my 3 girls. I tried re-introducing them last night (after the 1st failed attempt last week) but nothing changed, I gave them a salad bowl to bond over but once Pippin had finished she chased my girls aggressively, they were all petrified. Opal jumped so high in the air spinning off Pippins nose to land in the hay box..was quite an impressive move!
They were all running away from her so scared, Pippin just kept chasing and asking for full on fights.

I’m so gutted, I’ve loved having Pippin. She’s such a sweetheart and pleasure to care for. Wheeeks the house down for food, loves cuddles and it’s so cute. I feel so guilty taking her back to the rescue, But they fully understand and are very surprised at Pippins behaviour as she was fine with other females she was with. I’m glad to know she’ll go back in with them where she clearly was happy with those friends.

If I had room for 2 cages and a friend for Pippin I’d keep her, but unfortunately I don’t. 😭 :(:soz:

I am so sorry that the bonding hasn't worked out. At least he has a safe place to return to! All you can ever do is give it a chance, but you can never guarantee for success. :(

Would the rescue allow your sows to meet a neutered boar before you bring him home?

Aww ... at least you tried and sorry that it hasn't worked out for you and Pippin! x

Sorry things didn’t work out for you and Pippin.
Hope she will find friends she’s happy with.
Look after yourself too - this will feel like a sort of bereavement

Sorry to hear this, sometimes with the best of intentions a new piggy is just too fear aggressive and wont join a group... must be heartbreaking to let her go but at least she's going back to somewhere safe where she has a good chance of finding a new friend she likes x

Sorry it didn't work out, must be hard to take an animals back once you started to look after them.

It’s such a shame :(
She’s staying with me until Thursday as I have work etc earlier in the week. So atleast I get to cuddle her for quite a few more days :)

Thank you, I’ve never experienced such a bad bonding session. I knew from the first moment it wasn’t going to work :(

The rescue lady is only a small time rescue at the moment so she hasn’t actually got many piggies in her care. Pippin and another female with her 2 female babies (to go as a family of 3 only) where the only ones looking for homes. No boars currently.
There is a bigger rescue in Melbourne who i might contact later this month (so I can give my girls time to settle back down). Annoyingly they had an adoption day last Tuesday and I don’t think they have them very often, but I’ll chat to them and see. I know they offer for you to bring the pigs to meet their new friend first. :)

So sorry for you it didn’t work out. You are making the right decision, don’t feel bad x

Pippin went back today 😭
Such a lovely piggy, VERY vocal! And the tidest piggum I’ve ever known, she only pee’d and poo’d in her hay box! Wish my 3 girls were that tidy!
I sent her back to the rescue lady with a foam fleece cave I made especially for her, and also a tub of her favourite pellets (science selective). We’ve been texting lots since I got home, Pippin (Poppy) is settled back home. It’s nice to have met such a lovely Guinea pig lady sort of local to me :) she’s also suggest a good vet, a bit out of my area for an emergency but still good to know as I’m struggling to find a trustworthy local vet, especially since I lost Spike..

Here is Pippin last night enjoying her new cave and a last cuddle :luv:

Aw I’m so sorry things didn’t work out :( I once had to return a neutered boar back to the rescue when one of my girls wouldn’t accept him :( It was heartbreaking but he had a lovely life with a new family and piggy friends. I’m sure the same will happen for Pippin xx

aww parting is such sweet sorrow. She was beautiful but determined. I’m sure she’ll find another home but it’s a shame it wasn’t with you xx

What a lovely gift to leave her with, such talent.
Sorry that things didn’t work out - you must be feeling the loss today.
Holding you in my heart and hoping for a wonderful new home for Pippin and her beautiful fleece

So sorry it didn’t work out with Pippin, I’m sure she will find a lovely home too. Your tunnel is amazing, what a talent you have there x

I sympathise - I have had the odd piggy that has failed and that I couldn't keep over the years. Mine have also often gone back or onto the rescue with their favourite cosy. For all that they are social animals, piggies can be every bit as complex as humans!
