My cousin is having a problem with her pig and i wanted to see what advice i could give to her and what you guys through- I have already told her to go to the vets but i just wanted some advice for her between her vet visit and this evening.

Basically, i noticed she had suddenly started being very quiet, just sitting in a corner in a ball. I got her out for her usual play the other day thinking she was just being quiet because she was tired or something. Anyways when i got her out she usually runs in circles n goes completely mental & pig runs away from her. Instead she was kinda hobbling around, very close to the floor, then she'd stop & lie on her side. Pig kept going up to her & sniffing as if she knew there was something wrong.
I picked her up & looked at her back feet to see if she'd been injured but i couldnt see anything. So i gently touched the bottom of each foot to see which one it was & she started getting uncomfortable & muttering when i touched the bottom of her back left heel. When i realised it was that i put her back down on my knee n she just laid right in to my knees on her side, something she's never. She still eats & drinks but generally just sits there & occasionally moves around her cage.

Hi, sorry I can't offer any medical advice. Just wanted to say I hope it goes well at the vet and she feels better soon.

Has she been dropped or stood on accidentally? Have you tried feeling up the whole leg and does she had full movement? does the whole leg hurt or just the heel? It might be worth getting an xray which can be done without a GA. Wishing your cousins piggy all the best and hope she gets on well!

In the meantime you could always try giving her some pain relief and see if this greatly improves her demeanour? baby nurofen (Jive likes the strawberry flavour) minimum dose 0.1ml twice a day maximum dose 0.2 ml twice a day. I would start on the minimum.

hope the above helps!
