hi dont know if I'm posting in the right section about this. so feel free to move.

last night i was doing to dreaded nail cutting with pixal - he hates it with a passion. hes a peruvian guinea pig maybe a mix. i noticed his nails are really chunky, especially the back. i had to use the much larger nail cutters to get through them compared to my other boys and grow stupidly fast.

does anyone else have this breed and same problem?

I don't have this breed - ours are totally mixed :)

But, Caramel has black nails while Biscuit's nails are clear. Biscuit's are really easy to cut, not very tough at all. Caramel's are harder to do because they're thicker. I think it's just from the pigment. Does this apply?

I have 2 Rexes & an Aby, & the Rex claws are much thicker (even the white ones) compared to the Aby's who is a doddle to clip rolleyes

Some of them have thicker nails- nails also tend to get thicker with age.

I was chopping off my peruvians hair today and noticed that her nails were long and very thick, they have grown fast since her last clipping too. You could be onto something.

Ah, I'm glad some other purivians have the same claws, was getting alittle worried there might have something up with them.
