Hi guys it’s been a lovely while since I posted, I have pixie she’s got a abscess on her neck and it’s finally popped, the one she had under her nipple burst and I put a little pressure around the wound which pixie was more than happy with me to do and I got cotton bud and wipes to clean around it and mixed F-10 with water put it in a syringe and insert it into the wound and it’s healed perfectly now I’ve had different opinions from different vets 1. Saying I did the right thing and 2. Saying I got to take her in so they can sort it ( I doubt they’ll do no different from what I did with her previous abscess) so I could do with some advice

Abscesses should be seen by a vet as they need to be kept open to heal from the inside out otherwise you just trap the infection inside again. Really you need antibiotics as well to help clear the infection

Hope your appointment went okay. Most abscesses need full surgical removal, but as it has opened up it may do okay with aggressive flushing and antibiotics. Some abscesses in the neck in guinea pigs can be zoonotic (humans can get poorly from) so be careful if your immunosuppressed at all.

Let us know how you get on.

Thank you for replying, she’s doing absolutely fine, the vet squeezed the abscess and given her a course of antibiotics and metacam for a week, this is my bed now hooman šŸ˜‚šŸ™ˆ x

Hope she does okay, she will probably need much longer than just a week of antibiotics depending on the size and extent of the thing. Hope she improves for you.
