So the last of my pair of sows was put to sleep on valentines day and i'm planning on getting some more pigs at some point. As i have only had sows in the past i would like some information on keeping male pigs. I'm not really looking for a certain sex i will be relying on the piggies personalities but obviously they will be a pair of the same gender either way. my pigs are indoor pigs and as i have never had boars before I'm not overly up to date on them in terms of maturing and the difference to females however i know about the increased chance of anal impaction so i am taking that into account. can anyone offer me any advice?

thanks!

If you decide going good standard rescue, you will neatly avoid the probably biggest problem with boars - character compatibility, or rather, lack thereof. Boar pairs from rescues are all well bonded and stable, so you do not have to worry about fights and fall-outs when they hit the hormonal teenage months.

With sows, pregnancy is usually the biggest problem; again, by going rescue (see our rescue locator at the top), you are guaranteed that all our recommended rescues conduct a mandatory 10 week pregnancy watch.
