Hi please could I get advice and help for my guinea pig. He is only a couple of months old I think, I bought him around Xmas time. Since then I have had to take him to the vets 6 times as he has had infections and due to a prolapse had to have an operation. Vets treated him by giving antibiotics but have said that he has colitis - inflamed intestines and anything can trigger this getting worse. I was told that there isn't anything that can be given apart from the antibiotics because other medication may damage his kidneys. I'm worried because each time he finishes his antibiotics he is okay a few days and then ill again. I've tried everything - stopped using wood shavings as that was irritating it, stopped paper bedding as he kept eating it, stopped giving carrots or treat sticks and he is kept now on blankets in his cage and gets the same hay and food with vitamin c each day. Please help as he seems to have a rare condition and I don't know what else to try! Thanks!
