.....I think Oats' undercarriage is so different to Porridge's - is this something I should worry about?

I've given them a good clean tonight both body and home, they are always fine, Oats does not seem out of sorts, eats and poops well!

Just wondered if this is "normal"

Would appreciate any comments, love them so much I may worry too much. Thanks

That is a badly strangulated willy which will need gentle cleaning asap, there could well be a ring of debris/smegma around the shaft causing it to become engorged.

This thread will explain it in more detail - it is something that needs dealing with quickly, if you are not experienced in dealing with boars bits it is important to go to a vet as soon as possible. It is an emergency situation if the pig cannot urinate freely.

I agree with Suzy. This needs to be kept moist with some KY jelly, or other water based, non scented lubricant and ideally seen by a vet ASAP unless you're very experienced in all things boar-bits.

Is he urinating?

I've put some KY on him, I'm not experienced in Boar bits. I'm going to keep him close to see if he urinates.

Can you get him to a vet tonight? That looks very uncomfortable for the poor little chap.

I cannot really advise more but I really hope he is sorted out and feeling better soon.

I'm just popping down to Vets now, out of hours for a nurse to have a quick look at him.

Excellent! Well done, it's nice for someone to act promptly for a change!

Hope he's feeling fresher downstairs soon!

Two of the nurses took a look at him and checked out his willy, they said that's okay. They cleaned him a little and he's urinating freely. They said to keep an eye on him.

Odd that they said thats ok... has it changed at all or is it still very... big looking? (i know thats a rubish description, but it IS 4 am :)) )

Great that hes urinating freely and well dont for getting to the vets so quickly.

It's great that you got him to a vet so quickly. Probably saving him from a lot of discomfort. How is he now? Probably a bit happier (if a little grumpy about having his undercarriage manhandled!) now!

It's still looks bigger than Porridge, I think I might try Companion Care today and see what they say. I'm not entirely convinced it's okay but he is peeing quite happily at the mo.

I think he's mightly peed off about people poking at his manhood. He never seemed particularly grumpy generally, I'm keeping an eye on his peeing to make sure he still is

I'm taking for an appointment at companion care at 2.15 today for a second opinion. Thry see many guineas so hopefully they will be good for him.

Thank you for acting promptly on this Debbie, it's not something to wait and see over.

Some more info for you.

thank you, et all, for the help. I haven't eaten, my stomach just turns with worry, he's being eating, pooping and peeing well this morning. Happy to be going for a second opinion, you all have so much experience and given so much care I'd be stupid to ignore your advice. It's great to have somewhere to get advice.

Very glad to say a lovely Vet called Jan sorted Oats out. I couldn't hold back tears holding him but she looked him over, got his willy out and checked for an infections, he was all clear no strangulation.

She said he just should be out like that and his end's got really dry, she used some KY and popped him back in and gave him a shot of anti-inflammatory and pain relief.

She asked some questions but wasn't sure why he had come out like that, gave me some advice if it happens again and generally re-assured me to pop in if I need help again. She weighed him and checked his heart beat.

He added to the proceedings by proving he could pee very well - a great strong shooter at us! he did very well, I'm however, knackered!

That's looking so much better! I'm so glad to hear that you were able to get it sorted out :)

He's gorgeous - hope he is feeling much more comfortable now - sorry I only have girls and know nothing about boy bits problems but was watching the thread (unable to help) but looking for a good outcome.
Well done for acting quickly and also getting a second opinion,
xx

Debbie - I'm so glad hes feeling so much better, and ofcourse that the stress is all over for you :)
Acting quickly can make all the difference and you definatly did the right thing :)

P.s your piggies are rather lovely can we see some more pictures? :))

Thank you everyone. I'm very relieved, just slept for 4 hours after a little cry.
My lovely sister phoned to make sure everything was alright too, nice to speak to someone about it.

The Vet said not to apologise for crying, that she'd had many pets in a sorry way that people have not been emotional about that should be.

I know the boys have taken over my life and people at work think I'm nuts but I don't care, they are so lovely the thought of them being in pain is just heart wrenching.

It's nice to be ale to express it here on the forum and ask questions, can't thank you enough for the kind advice and words.

That looked rather uncomfortable! Poor boy. Glad he's back to normal and you've got a good vet. I've blubbed many a time in the vets, don't you worry, it just shows how much you care.
Nice to see the face to match the boy bits!

I have a feeling Oats willy and I are going to have the most consistent relationship of my life!
