love to my baby piggy honey. i got her tues evening after having a check over from the vet only to find a massive lump in her throat this morning so she has the vets this afternoon. I'm really worried as she is tiny but I'm hoping its just a cyst that can be easily removed.

I'm really angry and upest that the vet didnt spot this on her check up but this time i will be there so i can make sure they are doing thier job correctly xx

I am sorry for your trouble. Having had a piggy with a lump on its neck, I know from my own expereince that some lumps can appear very suddenly and swell up within hours. Mine went from nothing there to skull size within the space of three days. It was a frightening expereince!

Sending my vibes to little Honey!

My pig developed a lump in her neck over night(fairly certain). The only way I can discribe it is if a human were a guinea pig imagine were there lymph nobe would be this was were hers was. It was the equivelent of her gland.

Infact she was diagnosed with a swollen lynph nobe and giving Baytril for 7 days.

To touch it was the size of a marble and you could move it with your finger, I was stroking her chin the night before, and when I stroked her under her chin the following morning I found it.

After a week on Baytril, there was no change. After speaking to a rodentologist I decided as she was perfect in everyway to leave well enough alone. Too monitor the lump after a fortnight I noticed it decreasing and within 3 weeks to a month it had completely gone.

I have no clue what it was but was very happy for it to disappear.

Good luck with your little one, Hopefully it's nothing xx

thank you for all your support and advice, i really hope it is benign (sp?) and that she is ok i just want her to have the happiest and healthist life that a piggy can. i will keep you all up dated with what happens. tbh i didnt notice the lump last night when i put her to bed xx

I had that with Bert in the same place, it was a cyst, we had it sorted and we had to drain it

Sorry I don't have any advice but a huge virtual guinea pig hug heading Honey's way. I hope she gets better soon.

Update!

well we managed to get to the vets ( i dont drive so had to get the bus) and the vet said that she has an absess (sp?) so i have been given anitbiotics that have to be taken twice daily and probiotics which has to go in her food and water. i will have to go back tues morning for a check up and if it hasnt started to go down then she will have to have it removed via operation.

poor little baby girl it must be really tough for her and i just want her to be better again xx
