People seem to be advising when they don't know this is extremely dangerous and may result in more harm than good. Rather than guessing if you wish to bump the thread a simple 'I'm not sure -just giving this a bump, perhaps a vet visit would be an idea'.

I just saw a thread where people were advising a possible sperm rod when it was fairly obvious it was a guinea pig horn, sperm rod's you can remove, you try removing a horn you will damage your male boar's penis, I know everyone means well but please don't advise if you don't know this can result in more harm than good.

I was going to post the same kind of message after seeing that thread, so thank you and I totally agree!

I totally agree, I am very worried about people pulling bits they shouldn't, & I'm no expert when it comes to boars but common sense tells me it needs urgent vet attention rolleyes

Is there a way of adding info about this anywhere as a sticky? It seems to be happening more & more :(

I agree. I hardly ever give advise on the health and illness forum simply because I don't feel experienced enough. I would never give advise regarding boars as I haven't owned one. I must say that I have offered advise regarding UTI in the past but this is because I've had first hand experience.

I often lurk around the h and I forums but only to educate myself

Agreed - I comment on threads I have experience on. I don't comment on conditions I have little or no experience of, except of course to recommend a vet trip.

Bumping a thread or linking to another that has relevant advice is helpful but please only if you are certain it is relevant.

I would never post with a health query for a sow or a pregnancy crisis as i have NO experience with sows
