After Nuggets passing early Friday morning and Noodles passing early Saturday morning. I have just gone to clean out Bumbles cage and there was blood and very pink wees - he does have a sensitive bladder and has had a small kidney stone in the past - we get bouts of squeeking now and then and he is given metacam when he needs it - he was x-rayed at the beginning of June as he was squeeking more frequently and I was worried that he had another kidney stone - but there was nothing there - just a tender bladder .I noticed a couple of big squeeks today, then saw the blood when I removed the fleece (with white mattress protectors underneath the fleece it was glaringly obvious).

He is now at the emergency vets along with a very pink wee sample - due to his history she is keeping him in and she will call me this evening after he has been x-rayed and urinalysis done- his two wives have gone with him as I still feel guilty that I didn't take Noodles along when Nuggets went in on Thursday night and didn't make it - so if something happens his wives will be with him.Hoping that he may have passed a stone, cystitis or a UTI - don't want to entertain the idea of anything else at the moment.

Really really hoping that your vet can make Bumbles better. Sending healing wheeks and vibes. :tu: Fingers and paws crossed.:tu:

I wish i knew how to cut and paste links i just looked up the efects Metercam has on the bladder ,

How much metercam is he on ,

Sending big vibes and thoughs of strength! It is so tough when you have so many deaths and illnesses happen in such a short time.

I know how you feel as I was faced with a similar situation when it was a toss up at the emergency vets whether to pts Ffraid or not back in June only three days after my Terfel had followed his last cataract wife Mali. I decided to give her a chance as I just couldn't face to lose yet another there and then.

My fingers are very firmly crossed for Bumbles! I hope that it is just a UTI in the wake of the rather cool weather we've been having lately.

Please remember that you are a very good, caring and loving piggy mummy who is doing all you can for your fur balls.

Thank you all for your words and thoughts - I feel like a walking advertisement for getting your pets insured - luckily mine are all covered - otherwise I would have been £1000 lighter this month - money I just don't have - it really is peace of mind that they can try everything for your little fluffy love ball - you can just say go ahead and do whatever it takes and concentrate on the piggy without having the added worry about how to pay for it lurking around the back of your mind..

I will let you know when the vet calls.

I give him 0.5 when he needs it - this isn't every day - just now and then - sometimes not for a few weeks - I know there are a lot of pros and cons about long term use - hence regular check ups at the vets.

The vets have just phoned me - he has been x-rayed and there is a stone and crystals in the bladder - they were going to give him Baytril but at my request are now going to give him Septrin to clear any infection - the vet is going to email my specialist exotic vet over in Dursley (she who has guineas herself and spayed Noodles and her sister Truffles and spays all her females as a matter of course) and discuss with her whether it will mean surgery or medical management - would have thought it would be a bladder flush and op to remove the stone - but will wait and discuss with the specialist vet tomorrow. :(

Oh I'm sorry it's not so,etching quite so straight forward. I hope whatever route gets taken your piggy makes a speedy recovery xx

Bumble was operated on today to remove 2 stones from his bladder - one was very large and firmly attached to the bladder wall - he was under anaesthetic for nearly an hour and the vet had to make 2 incisions to get to it, - there arn't any crystals in the tributaries off the urethra thankfully.

He has eaten a little on his own and I went to see him at 5 o'clock - the nurse said his temperature was a bit low, which is not uncommon after anaesthetic - he was wrapped up in bubble wrap with a blanket over him ,sitting on vetbed - he looked like a sausage roll! he still looked very groggy and grumpy - as he only came out of theatre at about 2-15 - I took some veggies in for him and he ate a strawberry, some yellow pepper and some celery leaves - they want to keep a close eye on him for the next 12 hours - but I have told them to keep him in for 48 hrs to monitor him properly and make sure the guts are working and he is pooing and peeing fine - anyone know what I should be double checking they are doing to make sure everything goes ok? - as this is my general vets that operated as my specialist is aawy on holiday until next week and my general vets didn't want to wait in case his stone caused a blockage.

Oh no, you poor thing, I am so sorry you are going through such a terrible time. Massive healing vibes for him and huge, huge hugs for you. Take care x

healing vibes from me to , how is the litte one now

You must be finding it so hard just now :( you saw the problem in time and got him seen to so he has the best chance! I guess if it where me i would be making sure they are checking he is eating, drinking, pooping and very importantly peeing regularly. 1ml of urine weighs 1g in weight, bedding him on puppy pads that have been weighed before hand then weighed when wee'd on will give them his urine output. I know this would be hard though with things like hay and blankets being there too. Making sure his pain and inflammation from the bladder is undercontrol is really important as this will help his appetite. Metacalm should cover both these things. And regular checks of wound. I'm sure they have it under control but its always best to be sure! Sending healing vibes xx

sorry to hear you're having such a rough time of it at the moment, just remember its because you care so much that it hurts. Stay strong, all fingers & paws crossed here, sending heaps of healing vibes & wishing Bumble a full & speedy recovery.
Big hug for you too, wheeks from the girls. x x x
