Please give me some sensible sound advice?

What you could do is write a letter of complaint to head office stating just the facts. That this girl was heavily pregnant, that the staff seemed disinterested and the reasons that you were concerned about her welfare and so bought her.

Most companies are quite concerned about their image and do take written complaints seriously.

Then never go back again. :)

Good idea!

They wouldnt give her to me for free. But piggies are now £19. NINETEEN. No wonder people come to work thinking they are such disposable pets. So cheap for such a special life. Far to cheap to encourage responsible ownership.

Just read this thread, so glad you saved her, she certainly looks more than podgy to me.
In my local pets at home (I know I felt so bad going in but the independent very good local shop was shut) obviously had loads of left over "christmas stock" and were selling 3 guinea pigs for £35 with a notcis saying make sure they have plenty of toys!?! Is it just me or would a guinea pig not rather have a house and loads of fresh green hay and veg to munch on than toys? My piggies have never taken to toys and Ive had 6 in the last couple of years.

give yourself a big mahoosive pat on the back for the friggin good deed * just di
aww I'm sure she will be glad to chill
doesnt suprise me what pets at home say
i used to work there back in the day and you get it friggin drilled into you what to say, sales patter etc.
i do shop in there but am wise to the staff which i rarely talk to.
I'm so glad shes safe to have her babies now
well done!

woohoo glad she's safe and well!
At least she has a chance now, keep us posted! x>>

Well done - give yourself a big paw on the back! - she is a beauty xx

Here she is in store. Its a very crowded pen of 'girls'. She looked very fed up. Theyve started selling lots of abyssinian types and longer haired types. Bad idea for first time owners.

Include photos with a date stamp if you can!

I probably shouldn't mention it but hat black and white girl on the far right looks a little wide as well.

Unfortunately, I can't visit pet shops like pets@home. I brought my Skittles and Chequers from the adoption section in 2009. Poor girlies were in a very small (maybe suitable for a hamster). I walked to the car and back because I couldn't leave them behind.

I am so glad you went back for the pregnant piggy. I hope the babies and her have a great new life.

Awwwww Ive just caught up on this thread, glad to hear that shes safe and so are her littlle ones. Hope her pregnancy goes smoothly :)

The black and white one hasnt been in the shop for long, i agree she looks a little bit round, but I'm not 100% sure if she is pregnant like the little one i took home is. I really really hope that she isnt.
