hi all, my neighbour is getting 5 piggies. All is know is a mix of sex 5 piggies all in 1 cage and 3 months old. She has asked me for my help so I want to help as much as possible.

I'm going round later when she gets them so would like to give her as much helpful advice as I can. I need help please!

I have recommended this forum, briefly said about them all being together (pregnancy and fighting), I know they are being housed outside for the moment but I don't know if it will be in a shed or not.

I want as much info as you can give me that I can forwRd onto her, so get typing please!

Hi!

Your neighbour may find these threads here helpful to start with. They cover the most frequently asked questions and needed information:
" Starter Kit" Of Information Threads For New Owners

Please ask her to sign up with this forum, as this is the only way of accessing our pregnancy section for our detailed information guides and ongoing support throughout pregnancy and baby care.
Boars can make babies from 3-5 weeks onwards and sows come into season for the first time between 4-6 weeks old, so any sows are very likely already pregnant; they are also coming into season within hours giving birth.
It is VERY important that she sexes and separates the piggies according to gender asap; we can help her with that in our pregnancy and sexing section, which is specifically there for people who find themselves with unplanned pregnancies and no experience and which proveds a safe place where they can ask all the questions they have along the way and get moral and practical support for any problems and worries.

She definately came across that she only wants the best for them which sounded nice so hopefully she'll join!

i think Guinea pigs become sexually mature quite early so I wouldnt mix them together. Also, males may become more dominant at that age causing fighting. Good luck to your neighbour :)
