Frozen, real guinea pigs (white, weighing over 1lb apparently) are being advertised in e-bay.

Does anyone know whether this is allowed (personally I am appalled) and how to stop it if it isn't.

OMG,I wanted to post a reply,but my 15 year old wouldn't let me!,can this be legal?? 98) 98)sx

i have heard of mice being sold for reptiles but never gpigs :( sounds a bit iffy to me.

Yes snakes do eat pigs, how horrible, but it is nature to them! However, I don't think Ebay would allow this, I'm not sure it's a tough one. :(

Thought ebay not allowed to sell livestock!but maybe allowed dead livestock. report it to ebay! :police:

Unfortunately, it gives a list of things that can be reported to do with animals which include ivory, live animals, stuffed birds, internal organs(?!) or animal traps - it does not specify dead animals sadly which tends to suggest it's allowed. Perhaps if several people reported it as a complaint they may re-consider, but knowing ebay, probably not :-\

It really is horrible but i guess snakes and so on have to eat...id rather they didn't eat piggies tho

I did some work experience at a reptile shop around march time this year and we had the frozen stuff delivered which included, mice, rats, chicks and adult rabbits. Plus i had to touch them to get them into the freezer cos they didn't come in bags xx0

Snakes can become addicted to Guineas, if they are feed over and over.
I remember someone wanting to buy hairless Guineas and breed them because snakes find the hair hard to digest.

I agree its sick and appaling, but I dont think its against the rules. Surely someone who loves their reptile enough to feed it an adorable little piggy would make the journey to a licensed supplier

thats DX DX DX DX DISCUSTING I'm going to frickin kill that !

just looked too , how sick putting a cartoony piggie on their too :tickedoff:

Although it's terrible it's no differnet to a little mousey or chick a snakes gotta eat :( I've come across a proper reptile website selling frozen piggies, buns, chciks etc :(

i know snakes have to eat but i think selling them like that on ebay shouldnt be allowed should it?

I read the rules and it says the exceptions are LIVE crickets, insects, or worms intended for reptile feeding
I dont know if mammals are included there

Surely there must be enough by-products from the meat industry (I am a vegetarian) which would be a far cheaper source (the only argument which ever seems to gain any ground in this day and age :()

:( I agree with Emma.I have kept snakes and no way could i ever feed a piggy to one :o
Most of the reptile shops that sell frozen rats and mice will also have frozen hamsters, gerbils rabbits and Guinea pigs in the freezer even if they dont have them on the list :(

That's horrid! :'( What also upset me was that it said there were 50, yes 50, available :'( :tickedoff:

The cartoon pic does take the mick but I'm sure glad there wasn't a photo :(

Yes, ebay allow it as it is food for reptiles. Lots of reps eat guineas. I understand you guys saying how sick it is, But if you were a mouse or rat fan it would be the same. They are bred for it, just like the chicken, pork, beef, lamb the majoroty of us eat.
