So we have two boys aged 10 weeks. They are still quite shy but totally adorable!

However one of them has dry white scaly bits on his inner ear and I have just noticed now has a sore looking red dot on the outside of his ear right at the back, around 3/4mm diameter.

I am assuming this is fugal or mites but I am not sure which? Also, what is the best treatment?

Many thanks!

I'm sorry you are experiencing this.please can i suggest you take your piggie to a guinea pig savvy vet,to get the correct treatment and doses of appropiate medication.it is not easy to tell exactly the problem without examining your piggie in person.there are some very good threads on this forum on skin issues,to help you ask questions t the vets.:wel:to this friendly forum.when you get chance would be lovely to see some pics.maybe put which country you are from on your avatar.good luck, sorry i cannot be of anymore help.someone else may add more information for you.:)

Hi and welcome

It sounds like fungal, but please see a vet for a proper diagnosis and the correct treatment. Please do not use cheap underdosed shop products. You should be able to reclaim any vet cost resulting from an infection that must have happened at the shop from there if you present the vet bill together with your bill of sale.

There are many more varieties of fungal, but the most aggressive and transmittable is ringworm, which can also affect humans and other pets. Please follow our hygiene tips carefully to prevent infecting yourself and others unless your vet can give you the all clear.
