Hi, my guinea pig Cuddy has a rotten tooth and she can't walk. Her tooth is really wobbly and is literally about to fall out. Her mouth seems swollen, and I tried to see if something was in her mouth but there was nothing. She keeps trying to walk, but can't. She is cold and her eyes are half closed. I don't know what to do please help

It sounds like she needs a visit to the vet ASAP. Is she eating and drinking? If she's not you'll need to start syringe feeding her water and food as a matter of urgency.

She isn't eating or drinking. I tried giving her water with a syringe but I'm scared she'll started choking. It's 12:37 a.m where i live and i don't have many small animal vets around here. I dont know what to do :(

You need to get food into her. Try mushing up some pellets with water and putting them into a syringe. Unfortunately without food, her gut will shutdown and she won't recover. Give her very small mouthfuls of food (no more than 0.5ml) but she needs food. Could you update your location so that the more experienced forum members can tailor their advice to you when they come online. From your timezone, I'm assuming Eastern USA? Is there an after hours emergency vet you can access?

I dont have a car at the moment, so I can't go to the closest vet until 7:30 a.m. I tried feeding her with the mushed up pellets but she wont even try and eat it.

I really can't recommend anything other than seeing a vet, it sounds like she is in a bad way. Do you know if she fell at all? It sounds like she is in pain and so will need some pain relief from the vet at least.

can only advise the vets asap like already mentioned. or perhaps phone around for advice. can anyone give you a lift, or can you get a taxi? i really hope she will be ok :(

How long has the tooth been rotten? am wondering if the walking issue may be because she is week due to lack of food. The vet may want to admit her and give her food and fluids.

Is her tooth rotten, or just loose? Other more experienced members might be able to advise here, but my first thought was that scurvy (Vitamin C deficiency) can cause their teeth to become loose. It can also cause swelling in the joints and difficulty walking. GPs are susceptible to scurvy, particularly if they don't eat a Vitamin C rich diet.

I've treated scurvy in guinea pigs who aren't eating by crushing a small piece of human (or, better, Oxbow GP) Vitamin C, mixing it with water, and giving via syringe. But as the others have pointed out, seeing a vet is a matter of urgency.

Sending positive thoughts your way. x
