I was away at my moms house for three days, and when I returned one of my Guinea pigs, cricket, about three or four years old, couldn't walk. She kept falling over, and it seemed like she couldn't move her leg. I noticed immediately that she couldn't squeak either, and the area around her nose was covered in boogers. Part of her rear end was matted down with an unknown substance, and the hair coated came off in large clumps. I thought it might be blood from a potential wound, but I couldn't see any wounds from the outside that could have matted down her coat. She seemed to weeze whenever I touched her instead of squeaking. I'm taking her to the vet soon, but I need to know if there's anything I can do for her, please help, I've never seen this before.

you need to take your piggie to a vet now, this is an emergency.it could be a number of things,we are unable to diagnose .you can keep your piggie comfortable, change bedding regularly if she is sitting in damp/messy bedding due to not having control of elimination.maybe weight your piggie daily to ensure she is maintaining her weight.start syringe feeding, mushed up pellets with water can be used if you do not have any critical care to hand.I'm sorry that your piggie is poorly,it always happens at an inconvienient time.the best place to help your piggie is at a cavvy savvy vet.please let us know how you get on.I'm taking you are in the USA,this is primarily a uk based forum, and its 2am here, most will be asleep! you will get more response in the morning.:)

Hi and welcome!

I am very sorry.

Good that you have booked an emergency appointment.

Please keep her quiet and comfortable, warm but not hot and offer her water and soaked pellets in a syringe you have cut the tip off. Do not just squirt the water and food into her mouth, in case she is not able to swallow properly.

Was someone looking after the pigs for you, presumably they weren’t left on their own?
I hope your piggy pulls through x
