Junior Guinea Pig
I was too impatient, and my mother and I were too anxious. I just reviewed yesterday's video, and she was also resting at this time yesterday. Then she got up to eat a few bites of grass and went back to rest. However, this medicine did have a strong reaction on him today, and his appetite was not as good. I also have a question for you: what is the correct schedule for guinea pigs? My guinea pig is usually more active in the afternoon and evening. When my mother goes to sleep, it also goes to sleep, and it's not very active at night. I have some Critical Care Herbivore Fine Grind Papaya on hand, and I was thinking of adding some probiotics to it and feeding it to her. Is this the right approach, and how much should I feed her?Antibiotics can upset the gut, so that is why you give probiotics to help settle.
He is not pooping because he has not eaten enough for the last couple of days
Has your mother been weighing him every morning as per my previous advice?
You must weigh him every morning and step in with syringe feeding the mushed pellets.
Mix the essentials pellets you have with water to make a mush mixture. Cut the end off a 1ml syringe and put the pellet mush into it. feed him as much as he will take at each time. You will need to get at least 60ml of pellet mush into him in each 24 hours period. So that means he needs to have 60 of those 1ml syringes in a day - he can probably eat around 10 syringefuls at a time but it hay be a bit less if he is feeling poorly (which then means you need to feed more often).
He then needs to be weighed the next day to see if his weight is still the same as the day before. If it is then he had been fed enough. If his weight is less than the day before then he needs to have more than 60 of those syringes during the day
If he doesn’t eat enough he can go into gut stasis so it is essential that your mother feeds him
