So we were handling our piggies who seem to be trusting us a little more!

Twilight is becoming a little more comfortable to move on our lap. However, if she sees an opportunity she might try and slyly sneak off but overall she is getting easier to pick up!

Heidi is still not so sure! Her personality/natural instinct tells her she doesn’t like it and to run as fast as she can. So what to do with this one? Do I accept that she doesn’t like to be touched and follow her lead? I’ve only had her a week today so it’s still very soon I know! Do I keep handling her to bring her round?

When Twilight went back in the cage, I held Heidi for a few more minutes. Until Twilight started wheeking from the cage then Heidi was wheeking back and trying to scurry, like digging a hole in the towel to escape. Obviously I returned Heidi to her cage with Twilight immediately.

What’s the best way forward? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Please read the tips in these guides here. Picking up is cutting very close to prey animal instincts, as is handling new guinea pigs. By far not all guinea pigs will actually enjoy being picked up and cuddled if they are allowed to choose.

It's great that you are asking the right questions too. Shows a real caring nature.
They are such funny little creatures too.
Awww thanks @Mother Hubbard I have a lot of room in my heart for these piggies and I want them to feel at home here. I’m happy to let them have their way! I just want to bring the best out in them 😊

I literally cannot even begin to tell you how utterly over the moon I am this morning! My piggies let me stroke them and didn’t run away! They came over on their own accord and sniffed my hand on several occasions! They only been here 7 nights! How amazing is that!:luv::clap:

Here’s some more pics that I managed to get! I’ve moved them into their play pen now where they have more room!
