It could be the beginning of a fatty/pea eyelid (which is ugly, but harmless) or an infection of the lining; it's hard to say from this picture.

I recommend having it checked out by a vet, in case it's an eye infection.

Maybe she has something in her eye or has poked/scratched herself with some hay or something. My piggie did this a month or so ago but it didn't look quite so red but definately sore. I took him to the vets who prescribed some ointment. If you want to help her maybe bathe it with some saline solution? But definetely make an appointment at the vets to get her sorted and checked over. x

thanks,

i just got a bit worried, i tend to over look things. thought it was going to be something really serious like a tumor or something ! thank goodness its not. i will definatly make a vet appointment for tomorrow because I'm going on holiday on friday morning !

xx

Best of luck! Better have it sorted before you're away - otherwise you'll spend your holiday fretting! (Been there and got that t-shirt myself!)

I will take a chance and say that I think it is a dermoid cyst.
I have seen a number of them, they can be left alone or removed.
They can be easily removed under a local anaesthetic.

I have had something like this before in an older pig and I completely freaked out when I saw it!
I do believe I bathed the eye in sterile boiled water that had been left to cool, but the problem went away within a few days. I think one of the other pig's had nipped her eye and caught it in a bad spot.
Obviously best to say see a vet, but I don't think it's anything serious. It's one of those things that looks worse than it is.

I have a piggy who's eye looks identical to this but his is cherry eye/pea eye/fatty eye whichever you wish to call it. Not particularly pretty but perfectly harmless :)
