My brother was helping me give my guinea pig medication this morning. They have been prescribed antibiotics and an anti flea/tick medicine "Revolution" that was to be applied a month after the first application. The antibiotics have been being given to them once daily for the past few days. While I wasn't paying attention my brother didn't read the lable and fed one of my guinea pigs his dose of revolution? What should I do? Will this kill my guinea pig? I don't have a car or any method of transportation right now and no vets are open anyway around here this early. Someone please help.

Where abouts are you? Ideally they should see a vet as soon as possible but could you ring the vets and speak to them first?

Some types of Ivermectin can be give orally but it is the injectible kind not the spot on type, I am not sure about Revolution. I will see what I can find out.

I live in a very rural area and there is only one exotic vet, and she is not in on Fridays. I'm not sure if it is. The active ingredient in Revolution is Selamectin. I'll try asking on there.

Are you in the US? Could you not just phone any vet for advice over the phone?

I am. Right now it's only 7:47 in the morning and all the vets are closed.

There may be an emergency vet willing to speak on the phone.

How is your pig? any unusual behaviour?

No unusual behavior that I'm noticing. He's just sitting in his little house and runs away like usual when I lift it up. I haven't given them any hay or food yet because I've been freaking out so much so I'm going to do that and see if he's eating okay. I would call the vet but we don't have a house phone and my cell phone is broken. My brother is the only other one with a cell phone but he left me to deal with this myself because he had to go to school.

Ok, if you could post here to let us know if he is eating. If you are worried, is there a neighbours phone you could use?

Do you have any animal rescues or charities nearby who may be able to help if you can't contact a vet.

Sorry I haven't responded in a bit. I had someone come home and called the vet. The vet says that he should be fine but to just keep an eye on him. He seems to be doing fine but I'll let you know if not. Thanks for the quick responses and help.
