I'd recommend taking him to Rachel Mowbray at Vale Vets in Dursely. She is very guinea pig savvy. Woods is not a particularly great vets to be honest for guineas. Where are you located? I'm in Cheltenham

Hello, Sorry to hear your piggie is unwell, try not to panic. Here are a few pointers to read through (some of which have already been mentioned) but just trying to make it easier to see.

- Bring and keep your piggie inside (which i think youve done)
- House him on fleece/newspaper and offer handfuls of hay in a rack if you have one
- Ensure you continue with the medication and use a probiotic to help ease the antibiotic on his guts
- If he is not eating you need to syringe feed him. You can either soak pellets down to make a paste or get some critical care food from the vets. If he is not eating at all then he will need 120ml of the critical care per 24hours
- offer him plenty of fresh veg and his favorite foods
- keep him warm if necessary.

Your piggie has probably developed a URI due to all this wet weather we are having at the moment. If he does not make an improvement or gets drastically worse in the next day or two then he MUST see a vet for a change of medication or more diagnostic tests. Your parents are responsible adults who need be aware that by not taking a sick pet to the vet they are breaking the animal welfare act. If your parents wont take him, I'm sure someone on here would?

oh and p.s you said your vet advised separating him from his friend, well I'm not sure that's a very good idea as he could get depressed which may slow his recovery. As long as his friend isn't bullying him then I think you should probably keep them together so that they have company x

Yes I thought this too.

Hi we put him in the bathroom when we were having showers as i read steam can help and he has improved and eating grass. He and his cage mate have never got on really and had to be kept seprately before

how is he this morning?

nebulising is something alot of piggies will tolerate. basically they go into a little box and you steam saline into it to losen anything inside the nose and drain it out. but if he doesn't seem frightened, then letting him in the bathroom when it's steamy will help.

I am so sorry. I have been following your thread and hoping he would be okay. My thoughts are with you.

Sorry to read this, very sorry for your loss
