I can't tell you what it is but I always work on the basis that if I have any concern about one of my piggies we go to the vet.
That way you get an early diagnosis or reassurance there's nothing to worry about.

Let us know what happens

does it look simalar to lice or mites? my other piggie bonnie is currently under the weather too and i may have to bring both to the vet:eek:

Fortunately I've never had a problem like this and we can't make a diagnosis from pictures.
You really need to see a vet for proper diagnosis
It wouldn't hurt to take both piggies along

It looks like lice, some of the sanctuary pigs arrive with them sadly :( Most guineas carry a few but the stubborn little bugs can take over in times of stress or illness!
They're relatively easily treated, but always head to the vet just to be sure and get the right meds/dosage :)
P.s. don't worry, lice are species specific so you can't catch them.

hi again, just thought i’d update you all. i went to the local pet hospital today and explained the situation. they prescribed a ivermectin spot on treatment which i have applied so hopefully that will do the trick. bonnie who was also a bit poorly is 100% better so happy pigs all round tonight!
