I'm bonding 2 males. They been together 4 days now. And have got on well. Today I noticed that the baby had a cut on him this morning. I thought the older one had bit him in the night so I separated them while I was at work. I have just been watching them together and seam fine. But then the baby suddenly started scrating himself and crying at the same time. I got him out to look at him and he had scratch him self so hard that he had cut him self. I now don't think they had been fighting. I looked at little ones skin and it looks good. I haven't seen him itching so don't think he has any thing wrong with his skin, hims nails don't need cutting, he is on Septrin paed antibiotics for sneezing. Does anyone know why he is doing this and how to stop it

Please have your piggy seen by a vet; it can be the beginnings of mites or ringworm (fungal), but you will need somebody knowledgeable to have a good look. Please don't treat on spec. Both mites and fungal are opportuntists and have a tendency to make an appearance whenever the immune system is lowered, either by stress or by illness or a combination of both. Ringworm, mites and URI (Upper respiratory tract infection) are all quite common in young stressed shop piggies that have undergone several major upheavals to their little lives.
