Don't know if these 2 pics work but this is Delilah. She's pulled back all her blanket I'm assuming to make herself more comfortable :(
 
I hope that you can get to the bottom of what is going on!
 
We went back the vets. They said they think it's bloat as her tummy was a little sore and that in infacol helped. She has some more medication now similar to infacol but better. So got to give her it for 5 days and if no better or gets worse to take her back x

With bloat it can often be helpful to use an elctric massager (like a massage pad) or failing that an electric toothbrush. It can be very effective in shifting the gas. Hope she's feeling better. Well done for persevering with the vet. You know your pig best and you knew she wasn't right.
 
Do you know what the name of the medication you have been given is?
 
Glad she got the vets ok, but as the others say, keep a close eye on her, have learnt they are very good at hiding things from us and the vets when they feel the need. spoil her tonight with extra TLC.
 
That's good, it is a gut stimulant so not the same as Infacol.

I have been wanted against using Infacol as it creates one large gas bubble and if the GI tract is in stasis this could lead to a larger bubble becoming trapped which could be life threatening as it could cause a gastric torsion.

Woodwards Gripe water on the other hand contains dill oil which breaks down small gas bubbles.

Massage therapy will also help. Do you have an electric toothbrush?

Yea I've got an electric toothbrush although not sure what to do with it with regard to Delilah?
 
@Stewybus has some photos of what he did with his pig Minky.

You basically need to massage her tummy with it and the vibrations should help get things moving. Was the vet certain that there isn't a blockage though?

How is she eating?
 
i used an electric toothbrush wrapped in a flannel when ches had gas. it worked really well and he actually seemed to like it. x
 
Yea she was certain there was no blockage esp after all the pooing and weeing she did.
She is eating of her own accord now but nowhere near he cheeky self.I've been giving her tummy a little massage and she's been running about this evening.
 
That sounds more promising and it is good that she is pooing, just a matter of shifting the gas.

That's interesting about Infacol, but makes perfect sense. For human babies having a big gas bubble is good as it makes it easier to burp it up. Gripe water is clearly the way to go.
 
I agree with Elwick Cavies about not using Infacol for the same reason eg forming gas bubbles. I personally just use Boots Baby Gripe Water. The one in my first aid kit is mint flavoured but that's not essential. I gave Minky 1ml after food twice a day. It may be worth looking through this post for more info:-

i hadn't heard that about infacol and bloat. is it still safe to use during a gassy epsiode (not full bloat)? i usually use infacol or buscopan. can someone tell me what the dose is for the gripe water so i can get some of that to keep to hand. thank you.
 
I would never use Infacol. I have given Buscopan though. The dose I use for Gripe water is 3ml at least twice a day. That is based on the Woodwards one.
