Please Help!

I just got a new guinea pig recently, and she won't come out of her igloo. Her and my other guinea pig are separated for now, so I don't think my bigger pig is the reason for this. I'm worried she will get dehydrated, but she will eat if I put food in her igloo, but is this normal for baby pigs the first few days they are home? I got her from a pet store, and they said that she underwent a vet check before putting her out. I wasn't planning on getting one from a pet store, but it was love at first sight. Please help.
 
She will be fine. Just keep putting food and hay in the igloo, she will come out eventually. My Sammy was like this the first few days I had him. I just made sure he had everything In His cage (hay,water,pellets) and I put slices of vegetables in the little box he was hiding in. I found that he really liked peppers and cucumbers and the cucumber kept him hydrated. I don't recommend this but I was worried about him hiding all the time so I put him on my bed next to a few pieces of lettuce and then I put my other guinea pig on the bed and they started eating together! :) they have been best friends since so I guess having another piggie around made him feel safer. Can your new piggie hear the other one?
When I take Lucky away from Sammy for a few minutes Sammy goes crazy running around the cage and wheeking. He's really attached to him and he hates being away from him.

They Are in the same cage, I just have a separator in it. Thank you for telling me about your guinea pig, it gives me a piece of mind. Also, so you have any tips for introducing them? Nugget, my first guinea pig, is much bigger than storm, my new guinea pig. I am just worried that she will scare storm, but she isn't an aggresive pig.
 
Welcome! I'm a fellow newbie :) You'll find loads and loads of help in the various forums if you read the sticky posts, the ones at the top of each board.

They should get you started. I've had my pigs here 3 weeks now and only just starting to settle and feel as though they are eating hay etc, they hid a lot still though.

The old hands will be along at some point I'm sure but reading the linked threads will give you a starter for ten.
 
Actually, me using the phrase "starter for ten" makes me think. Unless you are a Brit of a certain age, you won't get the reference, it is useful if you can add to your profile where you are as some advice might be more relevant to you than others.

I don't have any tips, it just worked for me but I have read about it and you're meant to introduce them on neutral territory and if they do become friends clean the cage before putting them in. You should also have 2 of everything so they don't fight over it. Mine have always had 2 houses but they share a water bottle and a bowl and there hasn't been any fights over them. Reading the threads others have suggested will probably be helpful :).

Lucky was 1 1/2 when I got Sammy and Sammy was 5 weeks old so Lucky was huge compared to tiny Sammy but they were okay. Actually, Sammy got scared when my dog barked while they were on my bed and he ran to hide behind Lucky. I think your piggies will be fine :)
 
When my piggies came I found it really helped to put a towel over half of their cage, they came out immediately as they felt safer (even though it was just a towel lol).

I can't really help with the introduction of a new piggy, but I have heard that young sows and older sows generally get on better as the older sow won't be going through hormonal changes like the baby and the dominance is sorted out quicker. But definitely read up on the threads on how to do it, as I believe it to be a delicate process :)
