My wonderful mom got my daughter a piggy and I think she is about 10 weeks old or so. When she got her the shop we got her from said she had a fungal infection on her nose and that we need to put drops on her nose once a day for 10 days. She is supposed to be done with the drops on Wednesday, tonight my little girl called me up and said she wouldn't mover her left back foot and it was a different color. She was not like this at 3 o'clock today. I have never had a piggy and don't know how they act but she is super sweet and not skittish at all. She lives to cuddle but I'm not positive she is acting normal. I always have known them to be jumpy and not living from my experiences with them. I love her so much and need advice please

I think the piggy needs to see a vet because it could potentially loose a foot. Has the piggy been dropped or caught its foot? Have you any pictures?

This sounds like your piggy may have more than just a fungal problem.
She needs to see a vet to try and work out what is going on.
It is shocking that a pet shop would knowingly sell an animal they know to be ill, particularly with a fungal problem, which in some cases can be transmitted to other animals or even humans.

If you take her to a vet. then the pet shop should cover the costs as she clearly had some of these problems when you bought her.

Good luck - you sound like a very caring owner.

She is putting more pressure on it now.I am monitoring her as there is no vet willing to meet with me tonight I'm having to wait no so patiently until morning. I noticed as well that she is very skinny, I have only had her for 3 days and thought she was thin to begin with. She has been drinking water and eating a bit but we are very concerned that something more is going on as I noticed her genital area is a bit swollen than it was when we got her. Everything I have read is very scary to me. I feel so bad for not doing my homework more on piggies as they have lots of health issues from what I am gathering. If anybody has tips tricks or health info to share that would be awesome I would hate for my daughter to lose this fur baby she is awesome

I agree you need to get your piggy to the vet. ASAP
Forgot to say hi & welcome to our friendly forum.
Can you put your location down we can match you with a vet that is a specialist that is if you are abroad.
Can you let us know how you get on.

If you can have her seen first thing in the morning this should be ok.
Make sure she is warm and has plenty of food and water nearby so if she can't move around much she can still eat and drink.

And don't feel bad about not doing your homework first.
Lots of people find their way to this forum after an impulse piggy purchase! You are not the only one.
The most important thing is that you are trying to learn more and do the right thing for your girl now that she is home with you.

Thank you thank you thank you! She keeps moving her bedding around until she is on the bottom of the cold plastic bottom I have a heater in the bedroom in case she got to chilled. I noticed when I pick her up she is cool too the touch

i would certainly give whoever sold it to you a shouting, but don't give it back otherwise they will PTS.

She might be trying to burrow.
What bedding is she on?
Would it be possible to make a corner with a few pieces of fleece blanket for her to lay/hide in?
One of our piggies (Lucy) loves to be covered with a small piece of fleece.

The other option would be to put a cardboard box in her cage, and fill it with hay and see if she will burrow into that - that should keep her warm.
Good luck.

Would never give her back but I expect them to pay for this very visit they knew she was sick and they knew my kid was getting her and that she is still what I consider little! Not cool to do that too a kid just so they make a buck that's cruel but she has a forever home now and hopefully she gets health soon!

:agr: the shop should pay the vet bills .

I hope your guinea pig gets better soon .

Have you got a vet locally who is knowledgeable about Guinea Pigs ?

Yep make them pay, I'm glad your not taking her back. She will get good care with you. That is a lousy trick of selling it to a little one. At the end of the day they just want the money.

Any news on the vet yet
