I took my boy Scottie to the emergency vets on Sunday with weight loss and a snuffly nose. . I assumed he had a respiratory problem and thought a course of antibiotics would do the trick. Unfortunately the vet found a lump and has diagnosed him with a kidney tumour. Up until now he’s been lively and doing everything a piggie should do. I’ve just got up to give him his antibiotic and he has gone drastically downhill. I’m not confident he will last another day. As the prognosis is poor I’m not sure whether to syringe feed him or just let him be. I’d be grateful for any advice. Thank you

If you think he’s gonna pass...... just syrigine feed him, and make sure he’s comfy and has lots of hay i hope he doesn’t pass. If he does that would be sad

If you could.... bring him to the emergency room, and tell them. but if you think he’s gonna pass.... just make him comfortable before he passes

I'm so sorry to hear about Scottie. It's hard to know when it is time to say goodbye or if they may do better a little later. I know when my piggy Marshmallow had a fast growing uterine cancer, I had a hard time knowing if it was time for her to go over the rainbow bridge. When I saw that she lost all her zest for life, I knew it was time to take her to the vet.

If I were in your shoes, I would just make sure Scottie is comfortable and gets something to eat if willing. Holding both of you in my heart.

Thank you for you kind words. Scottie passed away peacefully an hour ago.

I’m so sorry! Hopefully he has a better life up there at rainbow bridge frockling with other piggies up there. Do you plan on getting another piggy?
I’ve already emailed the rescue centre . Ronnie needs a companion

I'm so sorry you lost Scottie. It is always a huge shock when they go downhill like that, I had the same with Daisy and the bereavement hits hard. Be kind to yourself

Rest in peace little scottie. I hope ronnie finds a nice new friend but don't rush it if you need a couple of days to grieve.

I am so very sorry. Massive hugs to you c
