sorry for reposting on same subject ,its just I'm worried about my poor babys. so sunday noticed dry skin and hair loss over skiddys eye.took him to my vet monday and started a xeno 50 treatment with a suspected mites outbreak, then every 2 weeks for 2 more applications. well today my girlfriend noticed skiddy has lost more hair and has cut him self scratching so we took him to the vets, the normal vet we see was not in so skiddy saw another vet who said the same thing or could be fungal/ringworm and suggested putting fucithalmic eye drops on the skin not in the eye ?
now ive looked online and cant find anything backing this up ?
will it take a while for the xeno 50 to start working before we see the dry skin and hair loss slowing down ?
please help,thanks.

poor little thing has scratched his skin again, should i take him back to vets or am i still waiting for the xeno to start working ?

I'd take him back, have you got a picture. Well the wound is healing it could possibly be itchy, as the hair grows though causing him to scratch which isn't helping the healing process.

ill check on him again through out the day and see how he goes,i did only start the xeno monday ?
is there anything i can do to stop the itching while the xeno takes hold?
thanks

it sounds fungal to me. Contact Laura at guinea pig helpline - Google it. She should be able to recommend something for your poor boy x

sounds fungal to me too. if you can get a tub of F10 cream from the vet is really helps. looks a little like vaseline but is brilliant at clearing up these things and obviously wounds as well. it is an antiseptic/antibacterial cream with other stuff too. My piggie vet recommends it. also if you go to

http://www.gorgeousguineas.com/indentification.html

they have piccies of different skin conditions etc and also natural shampoos, lotions and potions to fix them. which is really useful x

thanks,is the f 10 cream applied to the skin or is it a shampoo..thanks again
