came home 2 days ago and found a baby guinea pig in my brothers room..but the
Problem is my brother have a red tail boa and he sed that he went to some pet store and they didnt had rats so they gave him a baby guinea pig to feed to the snake..luckly i gat there in time and payed my brother what he had pay and saved the guinea pig from being eaten..but the thing is i never had a guinea pig befor and i need help i dont know how old is he but I'm guessin is not more than 2 or 3 weeks since is almost the size of a hamster jst a little bigger so idk what to do..i been feeding him vegtables and he been eatin kind of alot but then againidk whats alot for a baby guinea pig soo PLEAS HELP thanks

Guinea pigs need hay constantly, pellets when younger and less when older and vegetables once a day.

I am horrified that a petshop would give your brother a live guinea pig to feed to a snake.
 
1.water
2.hay
3grass if you can
4.veggies (be aware not all can be feed to them google what can a guinea pig eat)
5. he will need a hidy place such as an old box with a little door
6. he will need a cage that is at least 79by 91cm bigger the better
7.fine out the sex for he would need a friend if you cannot spend a lot of time with him the same sex is the best options as you are new and babies would be a silly idea. weigh him that will help indicate his age.

So glad you rescued little pig. Get a water bottle, some gp pellets, and alfalfa hay since he's young. And definitely make sure there is a place to hide. Find a vegetables list, and have a look around the care section of guinealynx.com, as well as some of our sections. Feel free to ask questions!
 
Thanks yous so much ill be going to the petshop tomorow morning and ill try to upload a picture too ..one more question the little guine pig was making alot of noise last night and i couldnt sleep maybe is because I'm not used to it bt idk if is normal everytime he would start makin noises i would get up and talk to him it seems to help..i think he misses his mom I asked my brother and he sed he was in a cage wth his mom and alot of other guinea pigs small and big so maybe he misses them...any ideas? Is it bad if they make alot of noise or am i jst worrying to much?....thank yous again

put a small soft toy with him to snuggle with he must be lonely as you said he may be 2-3weeks which is too young to be re-homed however i am sure the petshop didnt care as it was only being sold as food. you are doing a great job :)
 
The poor little mite. Definitely get a stuffed toy for him. Get one thats safe for babies and has no plastic eyes. He can snuggle up to that for safety.

Once you find out a gender and are sure you want to keep him - and far away from the snake in case your brother decides to feed it to him- I'd suggest getting him a friend as guinea pigs are supposed to be in two's as they are herd animals. He's probably very scared being alone in a new enviroment.

What type of noise is he making? Guinea pigs make a vast array of noises which can mean different things. Here's a good guide to see the different sounds so you can say which one he/she is making.

If you can find a piece of cardboard or something small he can sit in and hide the piggy will feel a lot safer. =)

Where are you based - I thought it was illegal to sell live bait in the UK anyway ?/ Thought bait was humanely euthanised and then sold...that I can live with to an extent but this is vile pow-pow
Some good advice given on how to care for this poor baby, a little friend is a must too but as he/she is so young, would you consider handing to a rescue to make sure they get the care they need (I'd be scared of one sooo young and alone rolleyes)
 
Hi there,

Can you be sure your brother wont return to the pet shop and just purchase another one?! Surely this could happen again if the pet shop is happy to dish out lickle piggies so easily :(

Yess I am pretty sure my brother wont try to feed him to the snake me and him had a talk and he sed he is never going back to that petshop ,and as far as were i stay I'm in chicago,and about considering handing it to a reacue ...I am thinkin about it since I'm scare anything well happend to him ..but over all i am totaly in love with this little piggy ^_^ he is the cutes thing everr <3 thanks everyone for everything..and i will go to the petshop to make sure i let the manager know how wromg is what they are doing >_<
 
I'm very glad your brother was sickened by the petshop. =)

I hope you can find some help for American rescues.
 
OO my gosh. Thank you for saving this poor little wheeky! made me cry to think petshops are so carefree.
Good luck with your search to rehome him or keep him whatever you may do. Keep us in the know :)
