My Zelda hasn't been eating the best the last couple of days. She has lost weight. She has been acting lethargic and breathing hard. No sneezing, coughing or anything. I took her to my vet. He said she looked great but agreed that her breathing looked off. I asked for an x-ray. Her lungs looked a bit hazy. He prescribed baytril. I am worried because it doesn't seem like much. She weighs 2.20 pounds. He prescribed .06ml of baytril twice a day. Does that seem right?! It is 100mg/ml strength. I am obviously going to start syringe feeding her as she isn't wanting to eat.

I can't offer any advice, but hope the medicine helps her get better soon. Syringe feeding is the right way to go if she isn't eating normally, hopefully one of the health experts will be along before long. :hug:Healing vibes for Zelda!

Its. .06. I thought the same thing. Says on the bottle and he marked the syringe. When she has a uti he gives. .2 ml. Why for pneumonia would he give less?! Should I up the dose?

Hmm that doesn’t seem right. You could always give the vets a ring and have a chat to them about it.
Sending healing vibes for Zelda

I'm so sorry @Livia Rabideau 😭😭. My last piggy that passed away, Cookie, had the same thing happened. Although she had suffered from neck abscesses for 3 months (started in March 2019) before and she kept on losing weight even after the abscess was dealt with. She suffered chest infection and passed away in my arms after 2 days. The antibiotic didn't even had time to work. 😭 That was Sept 2019. 💔

I'm really sorry for your loss. 💔 Don't be too hard on yourself, Zelda knew how much you loved her. Popcorn free pretty Zelda. 🌈

I'm really sorry for your loss. I've been in that position too- where they got abruptly sick and passed within hours of trying to start antibiotics to help them. You didn't fail her, you did everything you could. ((HUGS)) to you!

I'm sorry. If you can juice her some vegetables do that. My piggie wasn't holding anything down, juicing gave her vital nutrients she was craving. And all the vitamins in juice might give her a boost. It's really worth trying. We juiced spinach, carrot, romaine, celery, broccoli. All the best it's so hard watching their little bodies be sick.

I am so sorry for your loss, You did not fail, you took her to the vets and did what you could. The same thing happened to my Barnaby last year, fine one day and passed away the next day, despite taking him to the vets. Its terribly upsetting. But you did not fail her. She was loved and cared for and given vet attention when she needed it. Please do not be hard on yourself.

I'm so sorry- piggies hide their illnesses so well and can go downhill so fast there's nothing more you or the vet could have done here, there just wasnt time for the antibiotics to work whatever dose was prescribed- you did everything you could for her x

I’m so sorry you lost her. Please don’t blame yourself, you are very caring and a great slave, you have done everything you could for her. You definitely didn’t fail her. I felt the same when my Bill died earlier this year, he was fine one evening and the following morning he had died. I thought what had I missed, but there was nothing. Sometimes it’s just their time to leave us I think. Sending you big hugs at this sad time, please don’t blame yourself x
Sleep tight little Zelda x

Oh dear. I’m so sorry. Please don’t blame yourself, you are a great piggy mum and she was in the best hands. Huge hugs to you x

So sorry to read this sad news. Piggies are so good at hiding their illness, you couldn't have done anything more.
RIP little one.xx
