Can a skittish guinea pig cause a more outgoing guinea pigs become very skittish I ask this because my baby guinea pig that I introduced to the adult the first two weeks was very friendly and now he's acting less friendly I got another baby guinea pig and I was going to see if I can introduce all three boars which are all males together which a lot of people advise against so I was thinking maybe since they don't really seem to be too cuddly together they just tolerate eachother because the older 1 year old male rescued 4 months ago was a lone pig. He seemed to be also less skittish before their introduction. Should i seperate and try to bond the babies since theyre both also skinny pigs and he is peruvian i heard that can be why he chases, taunts, and bullies him cause baby has no hair lol. So should i try to house the herd together or house the babies and him next door? Andnis he making little one more shy? Any help helps

I'm afraid it is, one might make It through, but most don't. If you look in the bonding thread/forum it gives more details.

Ok so against whose advice? Is this real research if so i wont. I care about my pets hence i asked first .... how bonded csn the first pair be theyve only been together 2 weeks and the older one seems to not like his space crowded at all thats why i said maybe introduce the two babies and hiuse the 1 year old who was away from all guineas for 8 months maybe more of his life i just rescued him. If i dont introduce babies ill leave the pair alone that you guys say is already bonded but they dont seem too bonded and other people have had luck with 3 or more boars. The thing is i am not getting a 4th because we live in a apartment and hubby was already against the 3rd! I'm in a pickle

Not against but weary! My heart couldnt say no as the woman was giving him as snake bate if i didnt take him! I had to save him we love him

The moderators and sanctuary owners on the forum have so much experience and knowledge gained about piggies over many years, and are true experts on guinea pig behaviour, and have given all of us first time piggy owners sound advice. It is very rare for a trio of boars to work and boar fights can be pretty brutal when they happen. Whichever two get on best would be the best two to have as a pair, but the third can be in a cage next to them so he can still interact (for some reason they don't bother so much when they are not actually IN each other's territory).

Ok thank you. Do u think it best to leave the older boar who was alone 8 months and friendlier alone and more skittish now housed with the baby and making the friendly baby more skittish maybe let him house alone again so he isnt sitting in his house all day and maybe introduce the skinny babies close in age. Not sure

If the pair are ok together, I'd leave them be. That way you have options if it fails. Also, the gap in age means they won't be hitting hormone spikes at the same time, which will also increase your chances of a successful bond.
I'm afraid I don't know about the skittishness. It may be that he's not needing you so much because he now has a friend, which would actually be a good thing. It could also be increased confidence. I know that's counterintuitive, but as confidence increases, they are more comfortable expressing how they feel about being picked up etc. Again, a good thing. Over time, with lots of interaction and hand feeding, the piggy whispering techniques etc. I'm sure he'll start to trust you more. I really hope it works out for you.
