i could be overreacting as i've lost 2 pigs recently close together, one on 2nd October and one on 14th December, but my boy Charlie didn't really want his nuggets today. He's had some porridge oats as a treat, some fresh hay and a little nibble of lettuce but he's usually all over his food. He seems to of stayed in his house a lot today. My last pig Crispin didn't want to come out of his house the day before he died. I think I'm over reacting but it wasn't nice to open up the shed in the morning and see one of my boys gone! I'm going to go and give them their nightly feed, really hope I don't find...well...
He's about 5 years old now, along with his brother and another of a similar age, if a bit younger.
Just a bit worried

HUGS

It is always much worse when you come up against something that happened to past piggies - you get all the bad memories flashing back.

Please shift to weighing Charlie daily at the same time in the feeding cycle in order to monitor the actual food intake. If he is losing 50g or more in one day, please shift to syringe feeding and watering. As hay is making by far the largest part of the food intake, you cannot measure that. Unfortunately, you never know whether it is an illness brewing or whether an older guinea pig is going into organ failure. If in doubt, bring Charlie inside in his carrier, so you can check on him during the night.

Hi guys, thanks for all your thoughts. He seems to be ok, he's been running around on the shed floor today, he's eaten a little bit but not a lot. He seems normal but he wont eat much. He had half a carrot yesterday but hes only had a little bit. I'll weigh him as best I can and go from there.
