Sending BIG VIBES!

I have been through two bladder stone ops and found the waiting by far the worst bit!

That must be shaking your faith a little bit. :(

Sending lots of hugs to you as well, let us know when you hear from the vet. xx

Yes just a bit - he is a very good vet though, that's why I travel to see him & I know he's done it several times before so I suppose he's in the best place around here x

Thanks everyone xx
Just phoned & they said he's had his op & all went well - I've to phone again at 2 but should be ok to pick him up at 3 :)

Yay so glad that it went well and give Billy a hug from me. x x x

I bet he is going to be one spoilt piggy this evening. :)

Such wonderful news!

I'm really pleased he's made it through Suzanne.

:)

Glad to hear he is ok. It's a big worry when they have an operation but as long as you trust the vet and they have experience and your piggy is strong hopefully they will be fine. Don't worry if he is a bit out of sorts for a few hours but as long as he starts eating within say 12 hours he is well on the way to recovery.

Have they cut his teeth back to stop him biting the stiches? If so cut his food up small and hand feed him to get him back eating cause it really puzzles them when they can't eat like normal when our Gord had his big op he was not impressed. Wasn't bothered about the stiches or travel to vets just wasnt happy he couldnt eat like normal.

Heres to a speedy recovery!

I have to say I am utterly shocked that this would even be an option in some vets books. I know you're just mentioning it in passing and I don't mean to aim this at you, but I had to pick up on it. I don't see how any responsible vet would do such a thing. I understand the stitches side of it but so many serious dental problems are caused by vets cutting the teeth unnecessarily...it's a very irresponsible solution to preventing a pig biting stitches. As I said, I'm shocked.

I agree Laura :...

Billy has actually has had his teeth looked at too during his op as they were a little slanted at the front - poor baby, I just want him home 8...

Only another hour to go and you can get him comfy and settled at home. He'll love being spoilt and he'll be happy to be home. :)

Only just seen your thread, hope your little man will soon be snuggled up with you at home again. Having been through bladder stone surgery more times than I care to remember I know what you have been going through. Sending gentle hugs. xx

I didn't realise it could cause problems. I had researched my vet and was advised he would be good for piggys. He said it would stop him biting at the stiches we didn't think to question it as we were too worried about the actual op.
This is probably the reason why my bfriend wont have another piggy - I just wish there was somewhere we could be certain they would get the correct vetinary care. Life is so empty without a piglet pal.

He's home!

His op went well & vet is pleased with him although he is very quiet & feeling sorry for himself. He even snubbed cucumber, he has eaten a bit of hay & lettuce though so I'm just letting him rest for now.
The vet gave me the stone - it's only little but there is no way he would have been able to pass it so I feel better that he has had surgery - Billy just needs all your healing vibes now please xx
