Hapus 'Happy' is being spayed today by Simon Maddock at the Cat&Rabbit Care Clinic in Northampton; I sincerely hope that she's going make as smooth a recovery as my previously spayed sows!
She is still a bit shell-shocked and drowsy so I am giving her time to settle down in peace.
But she has come though the op very strongly so I am not worried.
Hapus is rather sore this morning - as expected - and still very freaky but she has eventually eaten her veg and I have spotted her eating hay.
I try to be as hands-off with her as possible to allow her prey animal instincts to settle down after she did freak out at the vet's, poor girl. However medication and keeping an eye on her from afar to see whether she is eating needs to be!
The scar and belly look absolutely fine and she doesn't have any mobility issues from her soreness.
She has thankfully recovered from being totally freaked out and is taking her veg from my hand again instead of running away. She's lost about 100g (part of which is the body parts she is now doing without) but I am sure that she is going to recover any lost weight as she is over the roughest bit (post-op day) and is starting to feel better in herself again as the healing process is getting underway.
It’s so good to hear she is doing well, Wiebke. It’s so hard when you have such a skittish piggy needing major surgery and additional handling. You must be feeling relieved.

Just catching up with this thread (how did I miss this?) Healing vibes to the lovely Hapus. Christian sends special get well vibes as he knows what it's like to recover after major surgery.
