This is not about my guineas but relevent in a round about way...

A sow has turned aggresive with both the neutered boar and sow that she lives with and has drawn blood on both! She is scurfy and has dandruff but can't spot any lice so thinking mites.... The other thing is she has gained weight and feels very similar to another pregnant piggy at the rescue we used as comparison and has that pregnant look about her (pear shape). The boar was neutered by a "piggy savy vet" and just over 6 weeks was left before introductions. So what is the likelyhood that the piggy is pregnant? They were bonded late november or is it more likely to be cysts?

The thing is their boar was neutered by the same vet that did my Jive and so I am slightly concerned.:{

Also can you use ivermectin on pregnant sows?

erm not sure about the prgnant thing but the late morton the rabbit had mites yet put on weight for a while. we were given some kind of medicine thats given orally through a siringe it cleared the mites in about a week. hope find the answers your looking for. has the sow been confirmed as prgnant?

For a minute I thought you were talking about your guineas. OMG

I have no idea as to the answers.

My Mork is a bit dandruffy and scurfy. I thought fungal and am waiting on gorgeous guineas stuff, do I need mites stuff do you think?

I so hope she'snot pregnant and that the vet has done it properly.

She is going to see a vet either tomorrow or the next day! She definitely has something in her now do i hope for babies which could mean the vet is not doing his job properly or do i hope for cysts and feel really bad for the guinea pig!

I am pretty sure vedra would have told me if either cottonbud or furby were pregnant? can you tell after 6 weeks?

Sounds like cysts as Wiebke said...but they shouldnt have put on weight, mine lost it if anything. But they do look pregant when the cysts have been there for a little while and mine all become so agressive.

She is only a youngish sow as she was a baby from the chippenham rescue in the summer so less than 9 months, She has no hairloss as that was the first thing i looked for! as was looking for fungal infection and lice etc! Sorry don't have any pics!

Still worrying about that little ginger sow! worrying less about my piggies and they are throughly fed up of having they tummy "manhandled"! Oh well i am sure i will hear how she is within a few days until then i will try not to worry and maybe should pull my finger out and get on and sort out the RHA course!

Well furby definitely not pregnant she is in season and driving jive to distraction!

Well the piggy has been to the vet and she is not pregnant, does not have cysts, mites or lice but they do think she is having some "hormonal problems" so is going to have vitamin injections and hormone injections so fingers crossed and hopefully going to be rebonded with her sister and boarfriend at the weekend
