i am writing this last thread just to inform everyone who showed their support to me about the piggies i ''rescued'' from a crap life. this is the link to my original thread:
http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=92842
i have settled the 4 piggies in. they are in quarantine in my daughters room - not even in the same building as my own piggies and have been there ever since i came home with them. i will be keeping everyone of them even the unborn babies. i have the space and the money to do so, also i am raising funds to help with any others that need help in the future. i have a fantastic contact at a rescue not that far from me who will give me all the advice i need and some of the funds i raise will be going there too in a way of a thankyou for helping me. anyway just to let you all know that they were all underweight - the 2 babies are 6 weeks old and only weighed 183g and 224g. there is a male and female so the male baby is now living very happily with the older boar. hopefully the female baby is not pregnant but to be honest she is already getting plumper so only time will tell now. they are all putting weight on straight away. the pregnant sow who is obviously in a back to back pregnancy is in such a poor state. she is so underweight that you can actually see her spine and her shoulder blades even through all her fur. you can feel her ribs too. she has terrible feet - she has bumble foot on them and her two back feet are in an horrendous condition. the photo below shows her feet today and they have actually healed quite a lot since tuesday when i got her. http://
she is such a gentle girl and has even let me open her mouth to check her teeth etc. she just seems to know that she is safe now.

i would just like to add that i am not happy that i had to pay for the pregnant sow (he gave me the others) but i am not ashamed of the fact that i did this either as in my eyes i did not buy her, i saved her from a life of hell - to be honest she would more than likely have died before long anyway. if anyone thinks i am wrong for doing this , then i'm sure you would change your views if you saw the state that she is in. i DID rescue her from a slow painful death and if paying to get her out of that hell hole is 'wrong' then tough. i did what needed to be done and i stand with my head held high for doing so. i do not appreciate PM's off other members patronising me for what i do. a life is a life whether i had to buy her or not - she is safe now with the best vets care, the best love and attention and at last she has food. for the people who supported me with my decision, i am eternally grateful to you- the ones that don't support what i did know who they are and believe me i do not want anymore 'advice' whatsoever from you. i will still be around but i will be out of the way. if anyone who has got to know me wants to contact me please feel free to do so. oh and i forgot to say that these people where i got them from who are selling every breed of animal they possible can, won't be doing so for much longer. things are being sorted

bless her, they look so sore. well done for rescuing them....i would have done the same thing, there is no way you could have left them there! they'll think its christmas come early with all the love and good food! xxxxxxxxxx

Well done to you, good on you for looking after that poor girl so well. And good on you for investigating and starting to get things done, I hope those people stop breeding and selling animals soon.

I also want to add I hope the little girls aren't pregnant as well.

I read your other thread and I am just so angry with that man. He is a real piece of rubbish. The rabbits and ferrets and other guinea pigs are now at risk with him. What scum he is. I cannot believe he picked up the poor sow by her head as well! Her poor feet show he does not even keep the animals in good conditions. Were the rspca interested in investigating the situation? You are so kind and caring and totally amazing to have rescued these poor piggies. It is wonderful you can even keep the babies.

rspca are doing nothing but i know of some animal rights activists who shall we say are dealing with the matter:x

Mega impressed by what you've done. Have you tried reporting the seller to the trading standards dept in your area? He probably needs some sort of licence, and is unlikely to have one - or if he has, it needs revoking. So sad such people exist.

Ooh interesting....

I only hope the scum does not get more animals. :(

in his adverts he asks to swap animals and is interested in chipmunks, avairy birds and reptiles as well as the quails, hens, rabbits, piggies and ferrets that he already has. he even has an advert stating he is in his last year at uni doing a vets course and is offering free advice 24/7 for anyone who needs it! he buys them from auctions at farmers markets. it makes me sick:)>>> he thinks i'm as stupid as him, but he has told me he doesn't think he'll be getting anymore pigs. time will tell

People pm'd you patronising you?! I find it shocking that members would take it upon themselves to be mean like that and stoop so low. i mean, is it affecting them directly? No. You did the right thing and I'm 100% with you, you did what a lot of us wish we could do but can't sometimes me included. I would love to do that but as I said, I haven't the resources nor do I have experience with pregnancy, I'd be anxious getting a pregnant sow.

You did good, I really don't see why anyone would have an issue, you did what you could and at least you only paid for one, could have been worse still. Would these people rather you left her to die a slow painful death? Not report this person? let him carry on? Do as you say and hold your head high, if anyone don't like it they don't have to read the thread! :x
I hope all the piggies gain weight and pull through ok, especially momma pig, good luck x

it is all being reported to the appropriate places - hopefully someone will listen

I cannot believe he does that! He just sees animals as experiments with no feelings. I do not believe he is training to be a vet because no vet would keep animals in such conditions.

He obviously just sees them as money making projects, they're a commodity to him.
Sadly, the human race ceases to surprise me these days....

i don't think for one minutehe is training to be a vet. i think he sees it as a way of trying to get free animals when others do not want them or for some other mad reason

It would have been so easy to read past that initial ad, but you didn't, you cared enough to act on it however that may have been. Sometimes when confronted with difficult situations we can only act in the best way we feel fit at the time. We all make decisions every day that not everyone 100% approves of, but the saying goes...'you can't please everyone, all of the time'. Those piggies will live a life being thankful to your caring nature and loving hands for giving them a fresh start.

All the best to all the piggies in your care :) x

I just want to say good luck for your piggies. I am glad you took them away from that horrible, truely nasty man!

I've just read through your other thread and just wanted to say well done for staying calm when you were there and getting some away from that place.

Those feet look sore - really hope she is going to be okay and that the other girl isn't pregnant,

xx

Good luck for the piggies you've rescued XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Gosh i so hope this person is stopped........:...

It is such a wonderful thing you did. I'm sure those animals think you are some kind of angel. I think it is appalling that people would dare berate you for what you did. I don't want to seem patronising but this is the definition of rescue:

"Save (someone) from a dangerous or distressing situation."

That is what you did. Are these people who pm'd you really talking about rescuing or are they actually on about morals and picking and choosing who 'deserves' not to suffer?

I wish you the best of luck with nursing these piggies back to health and please keep us updated with the situation of shutting down that nasty man.

You did the right thing, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Amy
