PLEASE READ EMERGENCY!! ‼️‼️i went to pick up gracie (piggy) and i noticed there was the hard kinda like a scab and it was all dried up and hair was just growing on it like as if it wasn’t there! is it a scab? we just went to the vet last week and no one said anything? seems as if it was there for a while? also she’s been acting fine drinking eating taking her medicine popcorning. no strange activity! could it be a scab from like Lucy ( other piggy )bitting her?

Hi and welcome

Please take a deep breath!

It is most likely a self-inflicted (due to some sort of irritation or discomfort or a fungal scab if the bald area around it is getting bigger in the next few days. Your vet won't have noticed because it is most likely more recent than your visit.
Bites from other guinea pigs are very rare, even more so in sows.

See your vet again if the area below the scab is bitten open again or if there are further signs of a fungal or a mange mites issue. Either of them can be gotten on top of fairly straight forwardly with the right diagnosis and treatment. Do NOT treat on spec just so you are doing something; you can make things easily worse than better and mess up any vet diagnosis.

should i wait a few days to see what happens? also i checked again and she has another one of them but very small?

also... that didn’t show up til i have been giving her her medicam since she has a bladder infection my mom thinks it could be a like reaction to the medication?

also there is no bald spots her hair is just covering around it and on top of it?

I think it's very unlike that she is having a reaction to the antibiotics. Antibiotic reactions are more likely to be stomach upset. They wouldn't cause scabs. I would keep an eye on it to make sure that it heals up okay. If it starts leaking anything, or if she starts to show hair loss there or continually works at it with her feet/mouth as if it itches, then it could be a cyst/abscess or fungal/mites that would bear checking out.

Could you get a photo of the scab uploaded to help us understand what you mean? Some things can happen very quickly. When daisy got ringworm there was nothing there one day then 5 days later a scab almost the size of a 50p piece! I was amazed how quick it happened. That said if the hair is still there it doesn't sound like fungal

Thank you! should i wait to see if she starts healing up or should i not even risk it and go to the vet if i see any hair loss or scraching!

Hmm it does look a little like it could be fungal unfortunately. Looks too big for a bite or a scratch. I would get it checked out on the safe side

Keep up with Gracie's medication. Fungal isn't awful and actually can be quick to get on top of once you have a diagnosis, medication and disinfect everything. We have a really good ringworm guide that Wiebke wrote. I'll go and grab the link for you.

thank you so much!

Here's the guide Ringworm: Hygiene And Pictures

I only dealt with ringworm this year for the first time. Unfortunately it appeared a week and a half before I went on holiday and I separated daisy even though I knew the chances were it had already spread. When I got back from holiday two of the others had small spots of it on them. Frustrating and stressful given I was away but I treated them all and was heavy with the F10 disinfectant and it cleared up very quickly.

Nope I really wouldn't as it'll just stress them. I was grasping at straws in the hope it wouldn't spread but generally it's going to be too late

also when we do come back from the vet do and the medication and once we clean everything will it be okay for them to be with each other

I would take both piggies to keep each other company. Also some vets don't like to prescribe treatment for a piggy they haven't seen/weighed. They will be fine together going forward. Get yourself a good disinfectant, I use F10, and keep cleaning thoroughly until you are sure it is all gone
