Recently i've seen lots of threads about keeping outdoor piggies warm, but I also wanted to say that it is important for us indoor piggy owners to be aware that our piggies will still feel the change in temperature!

I've had to put on an extra jumper the last few evenings and i've just had a little snuggle with Mabel and she was shivering! Her ears felt cold too, bless her! They live on vet bed and have plenty of cosies to snuggle in but our piggies are very sensitive in changes to temperature and i'm sure my girls have noticed the cold! Finley has so much hair i'm not sure if he has noticed it as much!

I've finally got around to ordering some heat pads for the evenings and Jo (Flintstones) kindly showed us these on another thread - think they are the cheapest! I have heard of them selling out in recent years so get them earlier rather than later I say!

It's not just outdoor piggies that need to be kept warm and snuggly! ;)

i've been thinking its really cold in the evenings but whenever i have the piggies out there always warm, last night butter's ears were very warm. so apparently in my flat its just me feeling the cold!

but it is a good post :)

Hehe, I wondered if it was just me too but it seems not! They have just been chilling out though which doesn't help. I'll get them out for some floor time in a bit and i'm sure all the running around will warm them up! :))

Yep, it's getting a bit nippy in the evenings now :(
I'm planning on putting 'curtains' across our set up at night when we go to bed to keep them a bit warmer, they have the heatpads etc. Last year we just draped large fleeces over but we extended it this year and it's over 6ft high now with three levels :{
Am going to be checking their little ears and feet tonight rolleyes

I couldn't find cheaper than this so ordered an extra 3 not long ago. They're identical to ones I paid over £20 each for mallethead

Aww, I remember your post about the curtains for your set up! Can't wait to see them when they are all finished x) these piggies really are like our babies, i've just spent another £40 on them :xmallethead

Those heat pads do seem to be the cheapest. I'm sure i'll end up ordering more rolleyes, do your piggies lie by them? The girls always lied by the ice pods so i'm sure they will with these. Maybe i'll throw in some more fleecy blankets so they can snuggle up inside them, Finley has well and truly taken to the girls pyramid bed so it doesn't seem they'll be getting that back any time soon! Let's hope we win another in Laura's photo competition, if not i'll have to buy him his own one - more pennies! :... does it ever stop?!

My heatings been on for a while now....") well, i do have little ones to keep warm as well as the guinea pigs!

Gosh, i'm sure people think i'm mad, I often get the response "they have a fur coat" but they really do feel the cold! Sure they will be very thankful for the radiator to be on, I got cold even underneath my duvet last night! Oh and yes, get checking those cute little feet and ears drooldroolx)x):)) i have a habit of kissing Mabel's ears :x she loves it :))

I've been so tempted the last few days! But so far i've resisted, not sure how much longer i'll last! We've paid direct debits all summer on our gas so hopefully we are in credit!

just ordered mine

Thanks for the great find on the net, have just ordered mine, was looking at paying over £20, so this looks a good price. Ive only had my GP's for two weeks, so this was very helpful. :))

No problem at all, this is why I find this forum so wonderful as everyone shares such good advice/products etc!
Hope your piggies have settled in well and i'm sure they've already welcomed you to slavedom!

I bought two pyramids out of Tesco months ago (for cats) and have never used them ?/ Will have to dig them out :))

I drape thick blankets over the back of the cages leaving the front open during the day and pull them right over when i got to bed in winter, to keep any drafts out. And they've now all got cosies and cuddle rolls from audioheart! :))

Good idea! Luckily our flat doesn't seem too drafty. Although the girls are on the bottom layer of my C&C so it probably is a bit cooler than Finley's first floor flat ;)

Lucky piggies getting new cosies from Laura! Mine have her strawberry bed and Finley has a stripey one :))

I've put draft home-made fleece excluders around our c & c's, just leaving the front open in the day. Have also pinned a duvet up behind the front door curtain to keep heat loss down and draughts out. Once we fire up the wooddburner in the evening tho' everyone's in t-shirts and vests it's so warm ( not the piggies lol - just picturing them in vests! ). Haven't put the heating on yet because the woodburner chucks out so much heat. I always cover the piggles hayloft with fleece at bedtime and they have a curtained off area beneath the hayloft too - just in case of any disagreements, there's more than one cosy snuggly spot if they don't feel like sharing.:)

lmao at the mental image of piggies in vests! :))

Yeah I have a starry nights cosy, a giraffe print cuddle roll and matching cosy and cuddle roll in the polka dot print, gorgeous. I think fuzzy may need sugically removing one day :))
Mine live in the kitchen which is actually the warmest room in the house but they're near the washing maching and you get a little draft when its windy through the tiny gap where the waste pipe goes that filters along the floor.

:)) we are all very clever at keeping our piggies warm! Will be using some of these ideas, thanks!

Oh and :)):)):)):)) to piggies in vests!

My heat pads have just arrived! Gosh they are heavy! :)):))

Good job i'm off sick from work to collect them, i kind of want to heat one up and snuggle on the sofa now! I feel like rubbish but have still managed to clean out the girls as they were getting a bit smelly, their needs always come before mine, i think it's finished me off for the day! mallethead

Time to snuggle up on the sofa then....:)

This is what happens when you put a fleecy wrapped snugglesafe into a covered bed with a skinny pig :

She's one happy piggle in there :))

Just wondering if anyone has found that their piggy didn't like heat pads?

Neither of mine will go anywhere near their ice pods in the summer...I know it's not really the same thing but I wondered if it's maybe an indication that they don't like leaning against/sitting on anything hard, if they can help it. Mind you with a fleecey cover they might like it.
