Junior Guinea Pig
Since getting Logan, we have been looking out for a wife for him for when he recovers from the snip... A while back I saw a pair of guineas on the Blue Cross website and fell in love with the little face of one of their girls (Ginger), however, she was with her sister (Georgia) so my boyfriend said a firm no.
Then a week or so later, I checked their website again and she and her sister had been separated after a big fight and were now looking for homes by themselves. So I showed their profiles to my boyfriend and he said we should adopt Georgia as it said she friendly and confident. So I filled in an application form for Georgia, but unknown to my boyfriend, put that we were interested in Ginger as well. I didn't hear anything back so assumed we hadn't been the right fit for her... Then after what seems like ages, I got a call saying Georgia had already been reserved, but Ginger was still available!
I said we'd love to meet her and arrange to visit her. She had been living with one of the staff, so he brought her in and let us have a cuddle etc. She was really nervous when I held her and the staff member explained she and her sister had been given up because the family had just got a dog, and had rabbits and budgies AND the mum was pregnant, so they didn't feel able to cope. I thought that we'd be ok and she'd come round, and gave her to my boyfriend to hold. She climbed straight onto my boyfriend and cuddled up in the crook of his arm and was happy as larry!
Our other girls have a 'Greek' theme (Athena, Persephone and Xena) so we had planned to call her Electra and called her Electra the whole car ride home. When we got her there though she really didn't look like an Electra, so we renamed her Penelope! She was very interested in our other guineas and we let her sniff Logan through the bars. Then, on a whim, we decided to introduce her to our already neutered boy Cap, as while his wifelets tolerated him, they didn't have an especially close bond.
Well after chasing each other around for a bit, Cap managed to mount her after after a bit of that, he just laid down next to each other and they had a cuddle and that was that!
Penny is the best, soppiest, lovliest, greediest guin! She's always begging for food and loves to have a cuddle with Cap.
So here she is!
