Not doing well now, seems to be feeling ill and dropping weight. She also has a strange smell from her mouth.. Not sure what's going on and if related. Off to the vets after work .. I'm so worried :-(
 
Come on our little fighter :box:......show your mum that she's worrying about nothing.

Vet couldn't find anything wrong in her mouth but couldn't say for sure because of the food in her mouth.. Wouldnt rinse it out Incase she aspirates because of her heart issues. She could smell what I described from her mouth.

Been told to monitor. Feel a bit fobbed off.. She's dropped weight and doesn't seem happy, shouldn't have bad breath for no reason.
 
Hmmm oral thrush ? Is the only thing I could think off unless it's food actually rotting in her mouth ?
I agree , this time of year everyone wants to just do half a job and pack up for xmas !
Do you have any thoughts on what it could be?

The only things that spring to mind are a dental abcess (doesn't smell foul enough for this and she doesn't seem to have difficulty eating, just less of an appetite than normal) , oral thrush (I don't think it smells damp but it does smell "foosty") or kidney failure which can cause ammonia in the breath.. Again doesn't smell like this to me and her hydration seems fine but she is at risk of kidney failure due to extremely high doses of 2 diuretics daily. I'm going to get some oral daktarin gel tomorrow and treat for oral thrush and see how we go x

She's doing well thank you. Breath smells better now after starting her on daktarin a week ago. Will keep going for another week or two with it :-) her weights up too, but her lymph nodes are still up so it's unlikely to be caused by an infection.

The other possibilities are nasty sadly, but she's happy at the moment so just trying to focus on that. Xx
