I absolutely cannot believe that this horrible illness is threatening another of my girls' lives. This time it's Jenny who's affected and from the look on the vets face this afternoon... she's not good at all. We got her mum over it, but she was the only one to survive and she went to the vets today too as she's never got back to her glossy, plump self (despite eating like a horse.) - it looks like she could have some quite nasty lung scarring...

We've got baytril and metacam for Jenny (metacam for Jess too to see if it helps the rattly noises she's still making) and she's now wrapped up in a fleece with a heatpad nearby as she's cold and her lips are quite blue - she's obviously struggling at the moment.

Is there anything else I can give to help her other than meds and syringe feeding as much as I can get her to take? I got 15ml into her last night, 10 so far today (she's too tired to take more...) and she's nibbling at some cucumber and readigrass too.

I can't lose her too, but I know from the look on the vets face that while she doesn't 'look' as bad as Tigger and Bean did... she's pretty bad.

Sorry I've never experienced this, just wanted to say I'm really sorry and we have all our fingers, toes and paws crossed for your girlie xx

I dont think she's going to pull through this. She's practically collapsed now. I've got her next to me on a cushion and she's just flat out.

I can't believe it.

Poor baby, am so sorry, I would rush her to the emergency vet if you can.

Did the vet prescribe any diuretic? when my pigs had pneumonia they had fluid on their chest - Buzz in particular and we got him through his first bout with a combination of diuretic, Zithromax, Bisolvon (to help with any snot) and a steam inhaler. Unfortunately we lost him a few months later to anoth bout which literally took him in a few hours.

Its is worth asking your vet about the things I have mentioned though especially the diuretic (would be Furosemide), if not for Jenny, for any future pigs that have it.

No, I just got metacam this time. With Tigger I got a steroid shot which appeared to work for a while but not longer term.

I'm going to see if the vet will have her back to try more drugs. We were only there two and a half hours ago and she's gone from being ablt to spport herself to being flat out and barely able to move. I get the feeling that it's too late to help her, but I'm going to try.

We just spoke to the vet and the vet wont give her a diuretic as she's dehydrated. Basically she feels she's done everything she can do and I know I'm angry and upset but I don't think she has done.

I don't know what to do.

They could give her fluids at the same time? What does her breathing sound like? Is there another vet you could ask?

That's what I thought. If they knew she was dehydrated why not give it sub cutaneously for her?

We're very stuck for vets around here... unfortunately my part of the world isn't well stocked as far as vets are concerned. The practice I use now are the best in the area...

I was thinking sub cut too. They should admit her and give both diuretics and fluids sub cut if they think she has any chance. If not the kindest option would be pts or she will drown in fluid if she does have it on her chest.

Oh sweetheart, so sorry you're going through this - I know how heartbreaking it is. (((((hugs)))))

She died about half an hour ago in my arms. I knew she probably wasn't going to be with me in the morning so I set us up on my bed, with a nice heatpad to keep her comfortable and I just... stayed with her till it was her time to go and join Tigger, Bean and Leah over the Bridge. I'm absolutely heartbroken. I just hope that this is the last time I have to go through this in a long long time, especially with this horrible illness.

Thank you guys, I can always count on the forum when I need to come and get some advice and vibes for my piggies. I'm just sorry I have to come back with this news. :(
