Hi all,
One of my furry babies has been sneezing a lot today. She seemed OK yesterday but when I got back home from work she's been wheezing a bit and and sneezed about 10 times since I got her and her friend out for cuddles. Other than that she's her usual self. Being lazy and chilled pig usually I found her relaxing on her hay with with legs out, as pigs do. She eats and drink as usual.
I'm worried because I've seen a video of a piggie with pneumonia and she sounded very similar although she's not breathing like this constantly just happened once or twice.

The only other option I can think of is that she may be reacting to new hay ? We got a friend on Sunday after 5 months long search and few failed bonding she's finally seems happy with her new friend. We brought some hay from the rescue we got the other piggie fork and it was so wonderful and is grown locally by farmer. However, this hay is not dust free and I wonder if that is causing her a bit of irritation ?

There's no crust around eyes or nose and nose is dry...

Has anyone ever experienced anything similar? Should I observe her, or take her to the vets immediately?

I'll change to their old hay which is dust extracted.

Observe and see a vet if necessary. I would put my money on the hay; remove it and see whether the sneezes stop within 24 hours until alls the dust and pollen have been sneezed out.

Unlike humans, guinea pigs can't breathe through their mouths, so any obstruction of the airways is very noticeable. A full-blown pneumonia comes with very laboured breathing and loss of appetite, not sneezing fits and a stuffy nose!

I've cleaner their loft which is basically their hey pool. I swept all the hy from the fleece downstairs and replaced it with the old hay. That's been about 2 hrs now.
So far
No sneezing so fingers crossed that's all it was x thank you @Wiebke
