Had an idea, and wondered what you all thought, a swapshop, where members list things they have that they want to exchange and a list of things that they would be interested in having and therefore doing a swap with other members..... This could be food (if you have some dry food you bought and your pig's dont like it), toys, cage accessories, water bottles, food dishes, cosies, cuddle cups, fleeces - whatever you want really....

I appreciate this may be difficult for younger members, but i wonder if we could someone work around it......?

Also if members are willing, they can just donate their stuff to a rescue, if a rescue member shows interest in a particular thing.

I hope i have explained it clearly enough and you all understand how it works, if not just ask, it was literally something i thought up 5 mins ago, so there may be things i haven't thought of........

Seems a good idea to me. :)

Soemtimes you just want an item but can't afford to buy it so a swap seems fantastic!

I am just a new piggie owner and dont have much yet but I think it's a fan idea :)

do you mean stuff like...

manky very much used pigloo with wee stains and chewed bits and poos stuck to bottom

would like to swap for:

big cage or brand new large squishy armchair?

PMSL... :))

i think this sounds like a great idea... would be interested in it... :))

I like this idea, there must be lots of us with bits and bobs surplus to requirements and it would be great to swap them for stuff instead of trying to sell them or bin them. You know what they say, one mans junk is another mans treasure!

think this sounds brilliant.

I have one ex boyfriend who I would like to swap for anything... maybe a used piece of chewing gum or a bag of air. Free to any rescue that would like it.

Can i add mine first...... it was my idea :))

It's a good idea in principle but I go on another massive forum which has a 'swap shop' section and there has been no end of trouble with it.

If it's limited to people with reputable businesses having threads for their wares/offers then that's fine but unfortunately not everyone out there is so trustworthy. The other forum I use has had a large amount of 'swaplifters'. You send to them first and never receive your item in return and there was also a couple of incidents in which members paid for items via Paypal, sometimes personal and then you can't make a claim and there was a whole internet fraud fiasco.

I'm not saying the majority of members aren't genuine but it only takes one or two people to spoil it and unfortunately over the internet it's very difficult to know who you are dealing with.
