What can I do to help her? Mario her hus-pig suddenly died tonight with no warning, he just went limp after coughing and died in my arms. He was too young, only about 18 months - I'm in shock to be honest. After cuddles and tears and my 4 children all devastated I put Marios body with Pompom for a few moments so she could seen he had gone. She licked his little feet and lay next to him :-( Now she is alone tonight. How long do I leave her to grieve? I have two neutered boars that are fostered and due to go back to the rescue this week, I could introduce her to one, but how long do I wait? I feel terrible even thinking about this, poor Mario was my special boy, he had been through so much in his short life. I just don't want Pompom to become ill either, they were very close :-(((((

I'm so sorry to hear that, how awful ;( you did a lovely thing letting her see him she will understand what's happened. I can't imagine having to do that, you did the right thing.

I asked this when I lost my boar a few weeks ago & was told the sooner the better. I would give her a try with one seems a good opportunity as they are neutered already altho as your boy died suddenly it is probably best to wait a few days in case she has anything - but I'm
Sure she is fine.

You could give her a teddy for the time being, and lots of cuddles.

Maybe give it a few days she will probably be glad of the company xx

Could you contact the rescue they are from to ask for advice? I'm sorry you lost your boy, i would be devastated too if it happened suddenly :(

Thanks - a teddy seems a lovely idea I will give her one tomorrow. I had cleaned them out yesterday so it seemed nice that she still has Marios scent with her tonight and for a couple of days. She will be out in the runs if the weather is nice with other piggies in runs near her, and the other pigs are in the shed around her so she can hear them, so isn't totally alone.. I have a lovely gentle chocolate fox boy who has now recovered from ringworm and is neutered as of 4 weeks ago, he is called Yorkie - he might be a nice friend when she has had time to grieve. ohhh what a sad day :-((((( :(

It is very sad I had a terrible time with my boy & had to have him put to sleep I was so shocked & gutted for Rodney his brother. He was only 22 months old. It's horrible.

Your chocolate boy sounds perfect that seems a good idea, quite handy you have them. I would say to try him when you're able to.

Male & female pairIngs are the best aren't they so she will likely be pretty happy with a new manfriend.

My boys were incredibly close they were twins! Never squabbled always stuck together like glue, but Rodney is fairly content with his new friend Billy. Not the same, but he's doing well. You'll be doing the right thing for your girlie xx

I'm so sorry for your loss, I too have also went through losing a special little man. :(

I'd give her a week to come around to the idea that he's gone, (in this time you can start contacting rescues) and it'll also help her settle a little too, hope you find little h Pompom a new huspig :) x
